Christmas songs get played cos they are all on the big Christmas playlists. It doesn't really mean anything about artists appealing to anyone. Those songs are also played constantly in shops and in malls and shopping centres and guess what those places use now, seeing as its 2020 and everyone streams music - they use Spotify. So those songs get a lot of passive play also. If you think anyone straight is actively seeking out something like Santa Tell me or Kylie's Santa Baby lol just no

Guess the stereotype 'Straight men don't like female pop vocalists.' doesn't seem to apply when those songs actually appeal to all kinds of demographics, including straight men.

Mariahs AIWFCIY reached a gigantic 17m streams daily on Spotify. She kinda drives the Xmas season and all these other artists benefit from her, so we should say thank you Mariah. Kylies Santa Baby reached 4m daily streams this year, that’s huge for Kylie. Also, Gwen Stefani and Katy Perry got new peak in streams with their Xmas songs. Ariana got a big 12m with Santa Tell Me, which could challenge Mariah the next Xmas seasons.

OT but does that mean that you also support children's literature getting rewritten? 'Pippi Longstocking' initially used to include the n-word and there's a debate whether historic sources should be kept as such or altered for social/political reasons.

Yes, I do think they should be re-written. Of course they also should keep the original ones for a museum or something. Here in the Netherlands it's very common to re-write older books. Especially comics like Sjors and Sjimmie, where Sjimmie (black boy) has changed completely in appearance from looking straight out of the bush from Africa (and barely able to speak like a normal person) to dressing just like his white friend.

Unconventional, but a classic nonetheless. Yes, it was a different time, but views have (luckily) changed and therefor I think it's great the new versions changed that line.
