I don't know about you guys but I'm not going to bother with retail shopping anymore.
Well, what's the point of leaving the house at all? You could do everything from inside of the house. Wouldn't that be a pretty boring life though? I remember during the 2nd lockdown when everything was shutdown and the weekly shopping trip was my big ray of hope. If that one didn't happen, I would've probably started vandalizing or something. So yeah, eff those 7 pounds, it's not like you have to starve now, do you?
I ordered a CD last week at the local CD store. Didn't regret it for a moment.

retail shopping is for old people. Like seriously. Credible shops should have a good online presence... otherwise they aren't legit.

Even your prevcious CD store is probably ordering your CD online... might probably use amazon lol.

shopping in person... is outdated... just like watching linear television programs.

The problem is if you simply assume certain things that I never mentioned in here. Just ask, and if I want to answer on that, you can of course quote that as well. If I do not want to answer on that, please respect that and don't assume my 'real' positions towards those topics!

My experience in record stores is very bad tbh... (on a social level)... since my music taste is so ghey... and since Germany is a straight-male-dominated market... I've only encountered alt-rock / rap fans or really old people in record stores... who judge me when I'm looking too long at a female artist shelf. Some straight Nazi-Hooligan teens yelled profanities at me in 2001 when I bought Glitter at a local Karstadt... and then when TEOM came out... I had my twin brother go out and take the album off the shelf for me... and when I bought MDNA by Maddy... the lady at the cash registry... also laughed at me and talked down on me...

so, in my experience, German CD stores are hostile environments... and I would only go there today to buy "straight" music... bc I've had my fair share of flack and I'm not willing to engage in THE conversation anymore.

It's a shop that sells musical recordings in physical formats such as CDs, Vinyl and / or cassettes.

Maybe you just come from a country in which physical music media has been phased out... my country actually is the 2nd largest music industry for physical music media in the world, so we still know what a physical music media is.

Hhmmm I haven't been in a record store since possibly 2005, although I see CD's sometimes in Tesco and scan them for the nostalgia.

I bought 9 physical albums this year (2021), but none of those come from a record store. lol. It's just so convenient to order the music online or use streaming services exclusively. Last week, my vinyl copy of Ry X's Live from the Royal Albert Hall arrived... and that album is literally perfect... imagine sitting in a candle-lit room, blasting that beauty from a high end vinyl player with great speakers... it's so sophisticated and dreamy.

I can imagine. Sometimes I do naked yoga in my sitting room in the dark except for four candles that I light in corners of the room and soft music playing. Sheer bliss.

I guess more introverted people who want to go for a bit more socialisation would pick other places than these, but yeah, I get the appeal of bars or parties.

                                                • The timing on the record store discussion is interesting because this Saturday is Record Store Day to try and promote local record stores.

I usually go because my office husband collects 3" vinyl for his mini record player so I'll try to pick up something for him. It's kind of a hassle, but he is cute. But it is clear that they aren't targeting a young crowd with it - I mean between the focus on vinyl and 95% of the acts not having been relevant in decades, it appears they know their audience.

Here's a list of the offerings though the only mildly interesting thing to me is the Denzel Curry picture disc.
