Depends on the book. Smaller books for sure, but I believe that a bigger book like a Harry Potter novel or so can cost up to 25€.

      • I went into one of the charity shops near me today and I hit the Asian pop music jackpot! They had a BUNCH of Asian CDs, all for $2 each! I bought ten It looked like somebody cleared out their collection. They're all complete with booklets and inserts, some of them are still sealed and the CDs are all in perfect condition. One of them still has stickers on it from a Japanese store! It's so cool. I want to hug whoever got rid of all of these CDs lol.

Eight of the ten CDs I got were by BoA, somebody got rid of most of her CDs Right now I'm taking off the sellotape sealing them. No idea where I'm gonna store them, but who cares, cheap Asian CDs!!!

        • How come it's easy to find Asian CDs in New Zealand shops? This type of music doesn't make the local charts, so there seems to be an overall little interest in it actually.

We have a lot of Asian people in NZ, they obviously bring the CDs with them when they come here and then they get rid of them at the charity shops and I come across them Apart from buying them when I go to NYC and go to the specialised store, this is the only way I get them lol. I have over 20 Asian pop CDs I've bought at charity shops already, 30 with these ones I just got.

I love getting Asian CDs cos they're so nicely made with loads of cool little inserts, awesomely made glossy booklets, extra DVDs and nice packaging.

Before that I bought a Wrestlemania 31 collector's edition magazine (I'd been looking for it the entire time I've been here lol) and the WWE Superstar Guide, which has profiles on the ENTIRE roster and loads of WWE legends, with illustrations of them. It's really cool and another awesome thing to add to my WWE collection.

OT, but I really wonder about how Alicepotter learned English. I mean, basically one of the first grammar units in the English classes during early middle school is on simple present and how it's built. And "you has" pretty much looks like eye cancer, to be honest .

I wasn't trying to make fun of cancer. In Germany, we use this expression to say that something looks so wrong that it's simply striking.

You cannot compare English and Portuguese since English is a global language, while Portuguese is only spoken in a few countries. It stands out because 90% of the users on here have really great English skills and the other 10% look even poorer in contrast. I am not trying to tear you down, Alice, but "he/she/it = additional s" was one of the very first things we learned in our English classes. And it's so elementary when communicating in English because you need it all the time! So it surprises me that you're struggling with this, since you did it a few times before (=/= a typo).

I'm not an L1 speaker of English either, though truth to be told, I study English at college, so it's clear that I have a high level of linguistic abilities.

@mrlemonade: I hope it's clear that that was a typo and not be believing that it's really written like that. I was typing it on my mobile phone and I'd definitely suggest you not to do this in case you're in a train .

Eek. Timmy, I think you need to realise that this comment can be discouraging to others who are trying to communicate in a second language. Germany are very focused on learning English from a very young age, but that isn't the case everywhere. Additionally, it is naturally easier for some posters than others. We are all good at different things, and languages can come far easier to those who work well with words (Serby for example). To those who are good with numbers, or with their hands, languages can sometimes be much harder to master. Also, you come at English from a Germanic background. The patterns of grammar between English and German are very different to those between Spanish, or Portuguese for example. So for someone who is more used to the structure of Romance languages, their way to grasp English grammar can be different. As you know, I'm learning Spanish at the moment, and I find some of their grammar very strange compared to English. Yet when I learned German, it was totally different (and I'd say far more precise and rigid, personally). Mixing subjects and verb conjugations is extremely common for new speakers. I do it all of the time in Spanish. I know you didn't mean to be deliberately offensive, but "eye cancer" can be very crushing to someone who is working so hard to master a new language.

If I say what I think about him I would probably receive a ban, that's the difference.

And I don't think a person saying that your english is an eye cancer is a good incentive.
