Oh, I had no idea you were a writer.

    Are you a writer?

    I didn't know you were a writer.

I'm not talking to Terry Pratchett am I?

I'm not a writer but I do write - my current project I take very seriosuly, it's on my mind every single day and I'm sure a lot of writers are the same, especially authors which is why for someone to say they simply found all books 'boring' I was insulted.

I realise you can't write something to suit every single persons tastes and I have read books that have bored me but I do appreciate what goes into them, especially books - the initial idea to months of typing then re-writing...and the worrying if it's right and how to improve...as well as being exciting it's also quite lonely and stressful.

Like you said 'you like video games' but say you had made a video game and someone said 'all games bores me' you might feel insulted, if they were judging it on game play rather than graphics etc...

Which is why if I don't like something I'd opt for saying it wasn't to my taste, which is probably true...I have a unique taste in all areas of my life.

Terry Pratchett I am not but I have read his books, one I absolutely adored and another 'wasn't to my taste' but both were amazing reads.

Actually I have made videogames! I'm very passionate about games and I've been making them since I was little. It's been my biggest hobby all my life. I dedicated my design degree to videogames and I had every intention of working in the videogames industry until after I left uni, but then fate took me in another direction and now I specialise in graphic design and web design.

But still, it doesn't offend me when people say they find videogames boring. And a lot of people say this! Especially girls and older people.

So, I can't understand you being offended by my books comment. But that doesn't mean you were wrong to be offended, it just means I don't understand what I said wrong. But I am the sort of person who never gets offended by anything, so this does happen to me from time to time. My apologies in advance, and just try to remember: I mean no harm.

I wasn't upset in any way, intially yes because your comment/post was just one line but then you explained yourself so it made sense much more.

Erm games are for a selected amount of people where as books are for all ages but back to the subject currently I am reading 'On The Road' by Jack Kerouac and I'm about half way through.

I like both skelo and Dizzy's views but the problem is most people don't read books anyway. They would rather play games or watch TV. It's a damn shame but it's true.

And it's true most old people dont play games, young people do where as a lot of old people read.

BBB - maybe if books were written in ''text talk'' young people would read them...couldn't agree more with you.

I'm trying to get through The Catcher In The Rye by J.D. Salinger, but I can't concentrate on it. Haven't picked it up for weeks, I think I'll try starting it again.
This post is highly unlikely to be serious. Please treat it accordingly. Unless it's music-related, in which case I'm damn well right.

How to Lose Friends and Alienate People by Toby Young. I've been reading it for about 3 months and just haven't got into it properly. I've only got, like, 80 pages left to read so I'll try and finish it this week. It's a good book, but I just haven't been in a book reading mood for ages. I usually read books in a matter of days. My last one was Where's Spot the Dog? That was dead good.

Well I finished "Catch A Fire" and last night I started "Learning To Fly" by Victoria Beckham!

I have to say I'm already hooked and I've only read the first 2 chapters, I already knew Victoria was hillariously witty, and yea the book matches that image, she has a great writing style.

I am currently reading franny and zooey by JD Salinger. I have read it before but I love it so a re-read was needed. recently finished doing it by Melvin Burgess which wasn't as good as Junk.

Well let's resurrect this topic as I'm interested in what people are reading in the land of UKMIX.

I've just finished reading 'John Grisham - King Of Torts'.

Being a trainee lawyer I do like his legal fiction but this was a bit too legal for me - especially as I was trying to read this to escape from it. His other stuff is better - 'The Testament' and 'The Bretheren' being my personal favourites... oh and 'The Firm' of course.

I have another of his ones 'The Last Juror' waiting to be read - but I think I'll have a break from him now that I have just received my copy of the 'Da Vinci Code' that is waiting to be read!

Anyway, when I clicked on this I saw David's post at the top and clicked on the link in there abd remembered the whole Smack the Pony thing. I then spent half an hour seeing if his name was mentioned anywhere on the interent. I googled him I found nothing although that might've been something to do with the fact I forgot his second name

Also, I looked at the dates and realised that topic was where some of Daz's first posts are. He really hasn't changed
