    • I don't see why EU-travel would be a problem. A French tourist in Barcelona is no more likely to carry and spread the virus than any random Spaniard in Barcelona. I get why you wouldn't want tourists from high-risk countries / regions (US, England, South America..) right now, but I really don't think these latest increases are due to tourism.

      • This is so sad, 1 million mink have been slaughtered due to having corona virus in the Netherlands and Spain alone. Poor animals.

Its not about one tourist in Barcelona, its about one infected person potentially infecting an entire bus load of people on the way to a beach, or on the way back to the airport who then have the potential to go back and infect their families at home. Who then may go around and infect their friends etc and then cause it to spread. Its all about containing it within areas. Once you have people from all over the EU coming into a certain place, potentially mixing in bars and on beaches then heading home the potential for spreading it is huge. I dont understand how people do not get this.

It's not just sad, it's wrong... we don't even know if these animals can spread it to humans... I mean really we have gone over the top with this from the very beginning and it's getting worse the more it goes...

Of course its wrong, those poor animals should not be farmed in the first place. The way they were killed is heartbreaking .

Following the same logic, we'd have to shut down the entire economy again. Because the majority of people do not work in the same city they live in, Millions in Germany alone commute 100+ km to work every day and Millions more cross state or national borders on their way to work. They're just as likely to infect an entire train or bus of people and then their families back home.

At least tourists just travel twice, 1x to their destination and 1x back home. Commuters commute twice a day, 5 days a week, week after week.

I am sure the return to work for those people has been done in a phased and safe way to minimize risk in a super power country like Germany. Adding tourism into the mix increases the potential for increased transmission. I didn't say it was all because of tourism.

And as for tourists travelling just twice lol, are you even being serious ? As if tourists don't take buses and metros every day too. There is a thing called city tourism.

People who are visiting other countries, almost always visit one of the major cities if said country. I mean... places like Paris, London, Rome have tens of millions of tourists every year. Doesn't Paris have like 20-30 million tourists every "normal" year?

Yup. Rihab seems to think the tourists just come and sit on a remote beach or something and never venture anywhere else. Normally in July Paris, Rome, London, Milan etc are full to the brim with tourists.

Outdoor sports were never an issue. I never stopped doing my daily hour of exercise or sunbathing down at the river. I have not gone to the busy beaches as no one is respecting social distancing there and they are just too busy. And furthermore I don't like crowded beaches.

It's wrong farming minks in the first place and slaughtering them for fur. There really isn't much of a difference for the animals. Killed now or killed in a few weeks or months. In terms of human safety you really don't want to face the risk, considering most of the farms workers had been infected so at that point you don't know if there was mutual transmission between the animals and humans.
