  • Guinean musician Mory Kanté dies aged 70

    Mory Kanté found international success in 1987/1988 with the song Yé Ké Yé Ké which peaked at No'1 on the Eurochart Top-100,
    and also finished as the 5th best selling single in Europe during 1988.
    The song charted 3 times in the U.K.:
    In 1988 it peaked at No'29, in 1995 it peaked at No'25 (as a re-issue), and in 1996 it peaked at No'28 (remix).
    His 1987 album 'Akwaba Beach', was the best-selling African record of its time.

      And importantly in 2001 he worked with Shola Ama on "Nin Kadi (Too Much Of A Good Thing)". (Which I just saw it mentions in the video!)
