Well it is a huge change and it did come about for all the wrong reasons but people seem to miss the historical significance of it all. All the discussion is about what stupid thing politician x or y may have said or done or whether the british gdp will fall by 1 or 5% the next year or if the Slovene worker will be able to stay or not and forget that something much bigger is at play here and that is essentially the structure of the post-war order in Europe.

That video however forgets a major point: that you start a negotiation with maximalist positions and gradually give up ground until you reach an agreement. The UK does not have to have an agreement identical to any of the existing ones with non-EU members. But it does have to give up on at least some of its opening positions and the same has to be done by the EU as well (since it is in the interest of at least a few members states not to have a no deal Brexit). So in that sense the above video's main message is flawed...jio CHARTS NOW:6/6/2023: https://www.ukmix.org/forum/chart-di...9#post11144329

For those just joining the party, this is where we're up to:
* MPs will vote on Theresa May's deal tonight - if they vote in favour, the UK will request a technical extension to "Brexit" as there isn't enough time now to pass the legislation required before the planned leave date.
* If MPs vote against May's deal (widely expected), then tomorrow they will vote again - this time on whether we exit the EU with "no deal" - widely expected that they will vote against this also.
* If MPs vote against a "no deal" exit from the EU, we are left with one of two scenarios: we go back to a referendum to once again poll the British public on whether we exit the EU or May asks for an extension on negotiating a new deal.

You assume she’ll keep the top job Wayne. I’m not sure she can after today, though I’m happy for her to until this mess is sorted. I expect another vote of no confidence from Corbyn again if I’m honest.
Are the votes binding? If she loses the vote today then I’m not sure tomorrow’s is binding... meaning she could just power ahead with no deal. We might have no choice - the EU could technically force us to if they don’t grant the extension (and who would blame them?)
I can not believe we are 17 days from Brexit and they’re still all acting like it’s 2016.I have a bad feeling about this.

Also, it’s not the EU that is delaying Brexit, it’s the UK. Another country might have unity over the issue.
I just have no idea what can be done in the UK to get something through parliament that allows us to leave - aside from a no deal. It’s so obvious that no deal is the only way forward.I have a bad feeling about this.
