  • Honestly, I thought he was right to keep his head down at the start and not just begin mindlessly attacking Boris with a pandemic happening - I allowed some time for him to get his house in order and build a new vision of what Labour should be whilst Boris deals with the pandemic (which is basically political suicide). But he’s done nothing and yet again we have a leader unworthy of the job and unable to lead Labour to victory.

Labour is finished. It has absolutely no one in the wings waiting. Honestly, at this point I’m prepared to even let Diane Abbott have a go - she can’t do much worse. Labour sealed its own fate allowing Gordon Brown the top job and then stabbing David Miliband in the back by picking his brother.

I don’t know why Labour or the Conservatives went back to the far left and right but in doing so it’s screwed both parties and this country. Yes, the Conservatives have a majority right now, but they’ve spent the last seven years in utter chaos internally which bled out onto the world stage - how we dealt with Brexit was utterly shameful, the whole cronyism scandal was stupid and the utter incompetence of Hancock has cost the tax payer millions. Don’t get me started on Boris and his antics.

The only real political stability we’ve had in the last 25 years has been when both Labour and the Conservatives relaxed their positions and moved towards the centre. I honestly think we need a new centrist party ready to fight for the whole country (the Lib Dems are finished too). But we also need a party that can put up a fight in Scotland too - the SNP have got it far too good, and whilst Boris focuses on Westminster and Labour continues to be MIA, Sturgeon keeps pushing that independence agenda.
I have a bad feeling about this.

I gasped seeing people talk over the Queen - it’s so notable.

the only sane choice is for the underdog LibDems to smash those two loser big money parties
but in a perfect world UK would have been governed by Monster Raving Loony Party, they make more sense than this BoJo calamity of a PM

Labour should get Tony Blair back, he's got a pact with the devil (Murdoch) himself, suddenly The Sun and Daily Mail will start praising him and his "vision".

I know nobody was perfect back then but the powers that be seemed to carry themselves with a level of respect that we just don’t see anymore. I think it sets an example to the nation too, which is why we’ve seen division and bigotry on the rise because of who we’ve got at the top.

            • This will not land well if it’s true.

Most people will not see beyond the headline (realising that MP pay rates are set independently).

Party membership down by 120,000 to 430,000 since Kier took over as leader. It’s spent millions of pounds defending legal battles.

                • Dead as a dodo. But there are plenty of good people in Labour who could form something new.

omg wow! i wonder which party they are going to support after Labour?

Keir has to resign sooner or later or a new party has to emerge and form a coalition with Greens and Dem Libs

Kier resigning doesn’t fix the bigger problem of Labour having no one who could win an election.

Any new party forming a coalition with the Greens and Lib Dems is utterly pointless, as the Greens and Lib Dems only have a combined 13 seats (and the reason the Lib Dems is so damaged is because of their poor performance in a coalition).

A new centrist party needs to replace the Lib Dems and take votes from Labour, the Conservatives and the SNP. No small task.

                      • It is devastating that there is no worthwhile alternative to the tories as things stand. How is that even possible.

                        • I do wonder what the next election results will look like. Boris will have to deal with the Covid fallout and Labour might gain ground purely on the fact people voted Conservative to give them a majority last time, as a way of getting Brexit done.

I’ve always said the country votes Tory when finances need fixing and Labour when we need societal progression. We are now in a place where both are desperately needed, so I have no idea how the voting will go next time.

                                        • They are so preoccupied fighting among themselves, that they are omitting to effectively hold the government of the day to account - it’s scandalous. The desire to get an unelectable man like Corbyn back into the party and as leader is just astounding - it’s almost like they want to forever be the opposition party.

LibDems shouldn't get back to Nick Clegg-ish style of a "fancy third way empty suit" leader
