Indeed, the abject ignorance shown by some is spotlighted by the harsh realities of Brexit. It's so bad now it must be delusional.

Unless you accept Brexit is the future, you aren’t ever going to happy and find a way forward. It’s as simple as that really.

Right. A no deal Brexit is utterly crazy. No deal is literally the worst possible deal.

          • She could be on her way out...

Theresa May’s grip on power appears to be slipping as speculation grows at Westminster that she could face a vote of no confidence from Tory MPs, exasperated at her last-minute decision to pull the meaningful vote.

While the prime minister took a whistlestop tour of European capitals on Tuesday in a bid to win fresh concessions from EU leaders, MPs were lobbying colleagues to submit letters of no confidence in her leadership to Graham Brady, the chair of the 1922 Committee of Tory backbenchers.

Friends of Brady refused to deny reports he would meet May after her regular appearance at prime minister’s questions on Wednesday lunchtime. He would have to inform her first before calling any no confidence vote.

There was fevered speculation at Westminster on Tuesday night that the threshold of 48 letters – which would trigger a vote – had finally been reached. May has recently arrived back at Downing Street, where her chief whip was waiting for her.

Several prominent Tories, including Boris Johnson, Sajid Javid and Amber Rudd, are known to be contemplating running if May loses a confidence vote.

Many of the most prominent May sceptics were wary of making predictions, bruised by the last time the letters failed to materialise. One Brexiter MP said he knew colleagues who had spent the day lobbying others to send in their letters. Another said: “Do I think we’re there yet tonight? I’m not sure but I think we will be tomorrow.” Others played down the prospect of the threshold being reached.

If this fails and she isn’t removed, this will be the political end for a lot of the established 48 parliamentarians who are signatories - come on May, I am at least rooting for you!

                        • I really would like her to see Brexit through - her being removed will cause all kinds of problems. The deal isn’t that bad, all things considered.

I feel sorry for her though - who wants to move house this close to Christmas?

She'll still lose a confidence vote in the Commons though, likely before christmas but by the end of January at the latest.

Watch the speech again: the BS basically about about taking back control and a brighter future. She knows full well this is Lies. The UK's economic future will not be better outside the EU than in it: she said so before the referendum because the evidence is overwhelming and she knows it: The UK was already in control: the UK has always been sovereign. May is deviously power mad. The Tories are a nightmare.

The sooner we have a People's vote on the Brexit deal the better.

Completely disagree with you here, Wayne, sorry. The People's Vote in my opinion, is the only viable solution now.
What you're saying is not how democracy works. Otherwise next time we have a general election, whichever party wins should stay in power forever...

Whatever deal Theresa May brings back, with any tiny concessions she is or isn't able to get from Europe, will inevitably be rejected by parliament. The people I blame, are the real anti EU hardliners in the Tory backbenches, who have not given May an inch - they're not willing to compromise or come up with a Brexit that suits the 48%...and I wish May had the courage from the get go to push them back and from the beginning work on a deal that works for the majority of this country...
The Tories need to remember the Rees-Mogg, Boris etc. generation won't be here forever...the 77% of young people are the ones you will need to answer to in the future. And I predict dark days ahead for the Tory party as the young will not forget.

The reason The People's Vote is the only option, is that there is no appetite for No Deal Brexit, i.e. leaving the EU on WTO terms. Especially at this stage, where we are unprepared for such an exit. There will be major problems at the channel, at our airports, for our small and medium sized businesses and most importantly of all...the Northern Ireland border.

The Tory party has changed their mind, MULTIPLE times, they've changed their "red lines" so many times. As Caroline Lucas so eloquently put; if Theresa May can change her mind so many times, why doesn't she let the British public change their mind?!
There should be two options on a future referendum:
                                              1. Remain in the EU
                                              2. Leave the EU on WTO terms

However before any "People's Vote" is called, the government must first make the preparations for leaving on WTO terms AND must have a concrete and agreed proposal for the Northern Ireland border. It is just not right that people on this side of the Irish sea, should make decisions that could have catastrophic effects on our brothers and sisters in N and R o Ireland.

Give us a people's vote, open it up to 16 year olds - this is our future and to watch it being screwed by the current government and not seeing any strong opposition from Labour is, in my opinion, one of the most embarrassing and upsetting times that I've seen in my lifetime (politically).

As I’ve said before, our vote is submitted by our MP. Tell them how you want them to vote. This is what they are there for, this is who our friends, family and neighbours vote into power to act in parliament on our behalf. We have to trust and follow established protocol.

We can’t just keep calling for a referendum every time we want something done in parliament - and it bugs the life out of me that people are jumping onto a referendum because we’ve had 2 in recent years, like it’s the norm. It isn’t - referendums are incredibly rare.

We trusted parliamentary protocol to deal with things like abortion, marital rape, gay rights and marriage - why weren’t we demanding referendums then? We must trust the process and accept democracy.
