And we are here... This was one of reasons why Eastrn Europe countries did not want to host russians. They has come and showed their position... Thats why Latvia banned them. Russia Oposition chanel moved to Latvia and promoted Russian Army and help for Russian Soilders that come to Ukraine with only purpose to colonise Ukraine. And after they got another puhishing they have start to say how is "provincial" Latvia can say something to them.... And Latvia banned them. Now they are planing to go to Georgia... I also think the only way this will end or at least lead to some sort of ceasefire is via negotiations. It’s not naive, it’s realistically the most likely outcome. What that might look like who knows - Russia vowing to leave Ukraine? Russia seeking impunity for its crimes? It’ll be up for these countries to decide terms with some mediator.

The other option is possibly an endless war (Israel/Palestine, Armenia/Azerbaijan) - with repeated ceasefires and terrorist attacks. Quite a bad outcome, particularly for Ukraine since they are the ones being attacked. If this happens Russia needs to continue to face indefinite sanctions.

Escalation is another alternative but I don’t think Russia or NATO want this to happen.

If no milder tools work, then that will be the next logical step, I guess. It all depends on Russia now. Nevertheless, if it comes to sanctions, they have to be effective, and for what we know, that was not quite the case with the first couple of EU sanctions.

At the gym, they've got those TVs airing the news all day, and they showed a banner saying that the majority of Germans doesn't believe the war will end in 2023 (!).
At this stage, I'm not sure what's the profit from contuining this war on either side of the war. I would say it's no longer about winning but preventing a loss, essentially leading to a tie.
For Russia, it's clear that the 'quick special operation' didn't work as planned and that the Ukraine may not want to be freed from the 'evil Nazis'. Their reputation is pretty much already ruined, so there is nothing really to lose by just giving up. In fact, they would rather save soldiers from dying pointless deaths.
For the Ukraine, an even situation may have emotional value as they can still call their land 'theirs', but the land keeps on getting destroyed, soldiers die pointless deaths, more people die pointless deaths. If they lose, yes, they may get a Russia-led government but would that really be worse than the current situation they're facing with soldiers dying, people living in poor conditions and millions of people being forced out of the country?

It's crazy how, at this point, a loss would be benefiting for both nations. If only the egos on both sides didn't get in the way...

Ukrainian soliders aren´t dying a "pointless death" - They want to secure a peaceful future for their wives, children and upcoming generations.
If Ukraine (a quick reminder: no definitive article, please) loses, they will be definitely getting a Russian-led government or worse: Becoming part of the RuZZian Empire and thus, "a loss wouldn´t be benificial" to Ukraine at all:

Russia is not isolated - They will continue working with China and both countries have stated they will cooperate even more in the future.
Russia has OFFICIALLY announced that they want to destroy Ukraine - They don´t consider Ukrainians to be real people, they don´t consider Ukrainian to be an own language and they don´t believe that Ukraine should continue existing as an independent country. They even call it "Little Russia".

There´s some evidence on genocidal crimes - carried out by RuZZian soliders.
Ukrainians will not forget about what they did in Irpin, Bucha and over cities.
Saying that "Ukrainians die a pointless death" is such a shocking comment to make. They attempt to stop acts of genocide and becoming a colony without any rights to live free without being persecuted, oppressed or being killed for speaking Ukrainian or levelling criticism at Putin and his fascist regime.

Is it so difficult to understand that the RuZZian Empire wants to occupy more territory. They won´t stop - even IF Ukraine loses and will be run by a RuZZian-led government. Intelligentsia and secret services have already stated that an attack on Moldova is "not unlikely" next year.. Surely but slowly Belarus loses its autonomy and independence as well and ethnic minorities in RuZZia still get oppressed - they are colonisers.

They are working now and will continue to de-stabilize the russian economy and influx of money.
