It seems worldwide, elections are getting more divisive and people don't even know who to choose. It probably has just always been this way, and I'm losing my mind
I don't think this election is anywhere near as divisive as the US, UK, French or Austrian ones. The reason I and many other people don't know who to vote for is because social democrats, greens and socialists are literally all the same and Merkel isn't that different either (she doesn't like gay people but that's about it).
    This.

I've been saying this for weeks or even months now.

We are complaining about Americans and their two party system while our own political landscape looks pretty much the same right now.

IF people want to make a difference, they should vote for DIE LINKE or FDP, tbh.
    CDU's whore since 1982.

Not sure about it anymore. After CDU ditched them, they have become stronger, much more self-confident and personally, I think that Lindner is one of the best "well-established" politicans Germany has to offer right now.

Well, they've proven time and time again that power is more important to them than keeping their campaign promises. They're against border controls and a burqa ban and in favour of marriage equality and legalizing marihuana now, but all of that will be thrown overboard the minute they can form a coalition with the CDU again.

same with the SPD btw... they were PRO gay marriage etc, but since Merkel invited the fat one to become a puppet under her, they said screw dem gheys.. screw dem workers.. screw dem Mittelstand etc...

I'm going to vote for Miss Sahra Wagenknecht or Serdar Somuncu.

Each party in Germany behaves like this as long as they can "be in power" (which is ironical because are you really in power when you have to throw your campaign promises away?). Another good example: SPD & Betterment Tax in 2007. They heavily levelled criticism on the CDU wanting to rise the betterment tax from 16 to 18% . Schröder even said that "there will be no rise for the upcoming four years" & that especially "retired pople and students have to suffer". In the end,
In the end, we got not only 2% but FREAKING a 3% rise. How is that possible?

+ Gay marriage & SPD. We already could have been able to marry but instead of bringing it forward, the SPD does NOTHING (even though it was promised).

I just hope that FDP has learnt their lesson and that IF they will be part of government, they will push at least some of their major campaign pormises further.

True, SPD has also become unelectable under Gabriel. I'd only consider voting for them if Schulz led them, but as that's not happening it's either Greens or Left for me. The Left haven't really been in any government long enough to break a major campaign promise yet and the only time the Greens did it was back with the stupid Afghanistan war (under international pressure).

The Green Party also has become a huge laughing-stock.
I admire Cem Ödzemir, though & I agree with a few of their views but if one takes a breif look on the future of that party (The Young Greens), I can't help myself and be totally shocked about all that outrageously things they want to introduce and command, e.g. banning the German flag at sport events such as football matches or now, a tax for owning a cat

                            Damn, they are so delusional.

We already have a tax for dogs in Germany, though.

Which is pretty stupid as long as you have a dog, take care of that animal and take the shit it's making from the ground and put it into a bin.
I mean, cats also walk around and I have never seen a cat owner being prepared to clean the space after their cat shitted outside. And what about all the poor birds being killed by their pets?

Damn, those taxes on ordinary pets such as dogs (and cats as the Young Green party wants to introduce now) are so outrageous! - Of course, they can't focus on important shit. Our real enemies are the German flag and cats xD

the chances of the AfD becoming the biggest party in Germany after this year's election is 0,00%. They will become the 3rd most voted for party... after the CDU and SPD.

The logic is that dogs are making the streets more dirty than any other pet I guess and that's logical at first because dogs are the most popular pets with cats second but cats famously do not make the streets dirty since they bury their poop (whereas dogs don't) and also hunt the biggest street loiters of all, wild birds (although that's a myth too, a well-fed cat will not bother hunting any bird) . OK cats piss on whatever they like (mainly cars) but that dries out fast and nobody realizes it until your car has become a cat favorite and the metal starts disintegrating lol. That logic however is a bit thin when there are also laws requiring people to pick up dog poop anyway so if the above law is enforced there is no need for the other law, just stricter fines for whoever violates the law or lets his dog homeless. So yeah, I agree this is nothing more than another pay check, especially if it's enforced on cat owners as well, I mean what exactly are you gonna do with that money? follow cats around to wipe out their liquid litter from cars or replace killed pigeons to loiter cities even more?

Who would have thought that the German election thread would turn into a debate over animal poop? lol
