  • The #MeToo Movement

I didn't see a thread dedicated to this, and I see it as both political and world news.

I read this interesting article about the extent to which sexual assault allegations alter individuals' choice to support them.

Is it bad that every time I see this anywhere, that godawful Meghan Trainor song plays on my head.

This movement went out of hand to be honest.

The movement started off fine. Now it just gives everyone an opporunity to jump on the bangwagon and falsely accuse people. And of course there are idiots out there who will always believe the victims, because otherwise you are victim shaming.

Wow, you just didn't. Ofc you are going to believe victim until proven otherwise, what kind of bs is that? And no one should ever apologise for believing victims even if it turns out false, its human decency to stand on the side of people who get so little support from the system and not being listened po or take seriously. That's a rape culture right there.

And this right there is the reason why innocent people get falsely accused.

I think the main thing should be respect. I and an incident yesterday that was so disrespectful towards me, and the way some friends are reacting towards it hurts just as bad.

I cannot stand sexual challenged people who don't know the definition of respect and boundaries.

No one should apologize for believing to victims if they are victims. If they are falsely accusing someone, accused is the victim. That's the problem here.

You shouldn’t apologise for believing “victims” if it turns out the accusation is false? That’s the biggest pile of bullshit I’ve ever read on this forum.

Honestly I didn't want to say it but...

The problem is that this is very nuanced. Ultimately, innocent until proven guilty. It's all about the evidence, when you have several people accusing you without any obvious personal gain, it's one thing. When it's 1vs1, you better collect evidence or gather witnesses. It is what it is.

Yeah, i don't believe victims blindly. There are so many innocent people accused wrongfully by manipulative and lying people. I will always take evidence over a person's word.

I'm pretty sure virtually everyone "takes evidence over a person's word" - problem is, that there rarely IS hard evidence in sexual harassment, simply due to the nature of the crime.
