IDJ pushed hard to make #Beautiful a big hit. It had a radio deal, multiple performances, a great director for the MV, the Idol push... and yet it only went as high as #15. I don't think a follow up could've done better than that. Maybe Thirsty or YDKWTD would've peaked higher than You're Mine during summer 2013, but it's not like they were top 5 material. People usually blame #B not becoming a bigger hit on the video. I've read countless times that it "killed the hype". I don't share that view. I think if a song is meant to be a hit it will be a hit regardless of a bad video. And the video wasn't even that bad. It had nice visuals and colours and Mariah looked fire. Sure, it could've been better and had one too many "vanity shots" but it's not like a disaster.

Yes to the lack of great performances, all of them were kinda weird.
The Summer Jam moment was ok-ish.
I don't know why radio suddenly stopped playing the song when it was at her peak. That was strange. And that led to the decline of its performance of course.
The remixes came way too late and the injury was the final thrust into the abyss.
