I rediscovered my love for Music Box. It has never been one of my favorite albums (for a long time, it was my least favorite by hers) but now it seems like I have FINALLY understood the concept and the goal behind it. And I can fully appreciate it.

I don't know; maybe it's a sign I'm getting old.

Also, it seems like the version of "All I Live For" that we got on Rarities was largely re-recorded by modern-day Mariah but the "All I Live For" on the Music Box re-release is 100% 1993 Mariah. The range is the exact same but there is a big difference in not only tone but also musical choices. 23-year-old Mariah wasn't afraid to just reach up into the rafters and go for it whereas 50-year-old Mariah is a lot more reserved and mindful, if not outright cautious.

But basically, her voice is more or less the same. It's just that nowadays Mariah doesn't have the stamina or agility that she used to have when she was younger. It's also worth noting that Mariah doesn't get the sleep she needs to consistently operate at 110% now that she has two kids under the age of 13.

So are we going to see Mariah tonight? Is the 50 years of Hip Hop event televised?

Exactly! It would have been super smart to have released some non-Xmas tracks during the year and latched it on to the Xmas album.

Maybe she should just release an album with her biggest songs like All I want for Xmas, Fantasy, Touch My body, Obsessed and Hero. The streaming numbers for each of those songs should be enough to push the album to number 1 around Xmas time.

I wonder how it would work for a double album. One disc with her biggest streaming hits and a second disc with the new album. Imagine it being released on Christmas week. Last year the #1 album during that week sold around 120k. With good pre-orders and various versions + the TEA from streaming she could get a good first week number.
