I thought in that interview they said that MSG had sold out? I’ve just checked ticket master and it’s far from it on both nights… that kind of thing could stop people seeking out ticketsTo avoid any upset, please note; anything I post is purely my opinion. If I feel it is a fact, I will state that I feel it is a fact. Lol.

Mariah sleighing in the UK
The Queen of Christmas sets a new Official Chart record - Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You enters the Official Singles Chart Top 40 earlier than ever
It's the most wonderful time of year...to be Mariah Carey.
The Queen of Christmas is here…and we can finally get the festive season started.
The Official Charts Company can confirm that Mariah Carey returns to the Official Singles Chart Top 40 earlier than ever this week with her classic hit All I Want For Christmas Is You.
As the track jumps 20 places to Number 36, it’s the earliest appearance for the song in the Top 40 ever, coming in on the 46th week of 2022 (chart published Friday 18 November). Previously, Mariah had re-entered during the 47th week in the years 2021 (26 Nov), 2020 (20 Nov) and 2017 (24 Nov).

- Should a recurrent song 1) gain a significant amount of points with an identifiable reason behind said gain and/or 2) have enough points to chart at #50 or anywhere higher, it will re-enter the chart.
- However, these rules are not always totally followed by Billboard. Their chart team occasionally decides on a case-by-case basis on whether some recurrent songs that don’t reach the #50 requirement may be allowed to re-enter. There are many cases where they may forego this rule; this includes an artist’s death, newfound public interest, or if the song itself is a slow burner.
- Two scenarios that a song can escape recurrency despite fulfilling the positional requirements (courtesy of u/RimeTM):
- be gaining in overall points
- This condition can be satisfied without the corresponding bullet in the event of an album bomb or minor gains.
- be gaining on radio
- be gaining in overall points

How much did this hurt the sales of #1s and greatest hits?
Though now in today's streaming age, I do wonder how they apportion the streams towards each of these compilations? There's a rule i'm sure but i can't remember what it is...

The same applies for the Dec 11th Toronto show, though admittedly, there are more tickets to move between those two shows than anything with the New York shows. Hope this made sense!

She absolutely still slays it (and another song from that album we won’t mention out of courtesy to Queen)

I quite like his Christmas albums, though surprised that it sold as much as it did. It's great that Mariah MC album has extended its lead over Celine (there was a time in the mid-2000s when I thought Celine would be catching up).
