I get what youre saying but AIWFCIY would have got to #1 even if she hadnt done all those things. The only reason why I feel like stating that is to rebuke the theory that other releases underperform due to the lack of that kind of marketting. Up until Beautiful, it could have been the case but not anymore. Now, all of that would be nice but isnt enough to give Mariah another hit, just like a great potential single hasnt been enough to bring Mariah back a fourth time.

AIWFCIYs success is more than the sum of its parts. Its larger than life and just special, but that doesnt take away the fact that every single little thing counted to elevate it to where it is today.

What' i'm most impressed about is the game plan and the real effort to push it to #1. Who knows how all these things work towards the #1 but one things's for sure, it doesn't hurt.

As I said, I need a focused gameplan again I want to see the hungry Mariah going for chart success with a nonAIWFCIY single.

They almost had it with OSR, but for some reason, couldn't quite make it land. That Spotify thing probably had something to do with it and the fact that it's Covid and released all at once (amongst a big special) doesn't help seperate it as a standalone big release.
