Imagine if she can't sing anymore and this was her fanbase attitude towards that situation. I understand the dissapointment, but not being not understanding in that case

Come on now. If Mariah does that, the lack of support would be astronomical. This fan base is so inconsistent in their support for Mariah. We are so selfish to the point we forget her struggles(bi-polar, nodules, health) and we expect perfection to the point we forget or don't care that she is human. I don't see other fanbases treat their artists the way we treat Mariah. Why should she put herself on the chopping block to bleed if we are not there to help her heal or get through it. I get your point but it only works if you have a great support system. Just saying.

I've never read that Gladys Knight comment.
And Mariah's career is unique (the amount of pressure or being in the spotlight scrutinized). I don't see the point of bringing other artists to compare Mariah with. Chante's career has not been as intense as Mariah's

it wasn't Gladys Knight, it was CHAKA KHAN. I remember those words, she said Mariah sounds always hoarse cause she's constantly singing out of her natural range.

I don't about you guys but my friends who are detached from the stan world and can be considered as part of the "general public" think that Mariah lost her voice already. Something needs to be done to fix this -- a major PR campaign ala "the return of the voice" needs to be done. Whether we like it or not, this perception about her has been lingering. She can do the following:

1. TinyDesk concert
2. Another Unplugged
3. Release more videos of her singing acapella on her social media (ala the Jimmy Fallon with the Roots)

I would love a TinyDesk concert from Mariah. This would be ideal for her. Team MC better Make it Happen around the new album next year

I agree that lambs can discuss the voice, but I wish it could be with the same level of respect that Mariah's peers hold for her. For example, I would love to hear more of Mariah's raw and live vocals in performances, even if it means changing the arrangements to suit where her voice is on that day. But to say the voice is gone is simply not true. She has good and bad days and of course will never belt like Daydream era. That doesn't diminish her legacy. I also don't choose to blame her for her vocal decline. We'll never know what goes on behind closed doors.

My final thought on this: bipolar is a very difficult condition to manage and the medications often do cause metabolic changes, such as weight gain, acne, etc. Their effect on singing isn't something that anyone has studied in any meaningful way. I am just glad Mariah generally seems to be at peace with herself in her personal life and in most of her public appearances as well. She has been through so much. Let's allow her to have happiness.

It's a record for a reason. I am very optimistic tho. AIW is currently running away with its streams and are still pre-season. I think, it has the potential of hitting 20 million on Xmas Eve.... and Xmas day.

She was able to stay another week at #1 with only 2 days of (great) streamings. This season, it seems like competition will be stronger. Let's see

This! Everyone is fully aware that Mariah's voice has changed over the years, this isn't some kind of big aha moment that some seem to believe that it is. The people on this board listen to most of her performances, we KNOW. However, we also know that bad moments don't stop her from having great moments later (compare the vocals from the Charmbracelet Promo to the Charmbracelet Tour), it's never been a straight line.

Also, I think people that expect her to talk about the changes aren't thinking of things from a business perspective. Mariah is still making major $$$ from her career, especially at the holidays. Her reaffirming things for the GP will only reduce her earnings. Basically, no artist is going to talk about vocal struggles until after the problem is solved, or they know the problem can be solved. Certainly her publicly acknowledging the changes herself isn't going to suddenly return her voice to 1990 condition.

Essentially she can either retire or work with what she has got as best she can. I think Caution is a great example that there is still great songs we haven't heard from her yet, even if they aren't as vocally demanding as her earlier work. I hope we get to hear them, plus we've always got the previous CDs and performances to enjoy. It's sad that some fans almost sound like they would prefer she retire.
