I was thinking this the other day, this is what needs to happen and people to hear the two of them side by side in a mix to pique interest.

there should have been 5-10 seconds of IKWYW played somewhere in the WIB video too, so people make the correlation

Literally Inseparable part 2 (and I hate that song). Still, she looked pretty in the video (when she was not lying on the floor). The rooftop scenes are mesmerising. "Caution" deserved the single treatment. LEAD single after the GTFO hype single. Such a hot song and actually current. Mariah did ALL the work on "With You" in terms of creating movement and depth with her vocals. The track was blah. Totally agree. But damn she looked good. Old Hollywood vibes.

I think a lot of people have.

The nostalgic viewpoint really played well for them. I find it interesting some people appreciate the “continuation” angle while others see it as a ripoff.

Yeah, there were better options for singles and GTFO should've have had another treatment, but the song per sé is amazing.

I think GTFO was perfect to launch the Era.
But it was mishandled since the very beginning.

The best chance 2018s album had was if it went:

Video only: GTFO
1st single: Caution
2nd single: The Distance
3rd single: A NoNo
4th single: With You

gtfo was a nice moment that should have just appeared a few months before anything else as an interesting music video. Just to show a new direction in sound. But the real push should have happened with Caution.


With You, had it not been released at all would have been called the saviour of the album and the WBT pt2. So releasing it at the end would accomplish two things. It would show the lambs that it would never smash like WBT but it would also do somewhat well at urban a/c radio and keep the album sales somewhat steady at the end of the era. She had the songs, she just chose the wrong singles/order (yet again).

Agreed. I’ve listened to WY a million times.

It just seemed that they pointed at something more fresh with GTFO and then With You was anti-climactic for me.

I would have liked to get a GTFO remix. It could have been an awesome dance song. Same for A No No. The remixes just added a verse. But Mariah herself complained about them not letting her re-record it like the old singles. If they had at least added some stronger beats to the remix... (Interestingly, ANN is about to surpass GTFO in spotify streams soon)

Caution could have worked, but it would have needed some extra work to become a big hit, IMO.

With You is a great song and probably my most listened to on Caution. I think it was right to be a single but maybe single number 3 or 4. Caution and The Distance should definitely have had single treatment. It’s frustrating in hindsight.

It’s funny how Mariah doesn’t learn she’s killing the vibe releasing a ballad to launch the album since bye bye, then she did again with IWTKWLI, then you’re mine, then with you... and she doesn’t see it kills the chance for the album to make people interested
