I really like "With You" but literally every other song on "Caution" would’ve been a better choice

I don’t think Mariah had a choice with “With You” being pushed as the first single. It was designed by the label to attract an older audience so that they would buy the physical album.

I think with whatever label that puts out her next album, they’ve since realized the strength of streaming and its potential for success (I mean AIWFCIY, hello), so I think the strategy moving forward would be different.

TikTok has made it clear that there can be a younger audience for Mariah’s music and I really hope they utilize that social media to the fullest for her next project.

All they need to do is to attach AIWFCIY to her new albums... each and every new future album, like all the other new chicks do with their bigger hits... then release the new album on November and by January... the album is platinum... that's literally all they have to do.

If sucks to say this but I think if she wants her next album to have any success she needs to have the debut single feature a hot young artist (Ariana, Cardi, Bruno, Weeknd, etc). And it needs to be promoted heavily by both artists teams. The general public just isn’t gonna tune in to a solo Mariah Carey record even if it’s promoted properly. A lot of the GP that do listen to Mariah currently just see her as a legacy artist and listen to her old tracks. It happened in 2013 with Beautiful ft. Miguel. It can happen again!

Ik she’s not a big fan of collabs for singles. (Especially with popular artists ) but I hope something changes her mind.

these publications should go by Billboard... bc Mariah is always credited as the main-co-artist on all of her collaborations, excluding Where I Belong (her first feature after Lil Love (2007) )

she only needs the right song... something completely out of the box... and trendy. The main problem with Caution was that it was planned as a nostalgia album... and they chose the absolute wrong song. The Distance / Caution should have been the sole lead singles and promoted as such... The Distance would have also reached the higher ends on AC radio...

Secondly... in the streaming age... she needs better music videos... she really does... Nothing fancy... but a shred of creativity and a shred of a plotline would be wonderful after 12 years of getting nothing... She really does destroy any chances with those boring beauty shots videos. A semi-professional self-filmed go-pro video shoot of her just going to a grovery store would certainly fare better than any of those $250k ball gown, bikini, self-caressing snoozefests that she is currently delivering.

She doesn't even need to appear in a music video... she could have a song with somewhat of a message and go the TLC Waterfalls route and have actors play it out while casually appearing in a couple of scenes miming the lyrics.

Honestly, every one of us could come up with better ideas than herself and the professionals around her.

I would have liked to get a GTFO remix. It could have been an awesome dance song. Same for A No No. The remixes just added a verse. But Mariah herself complained about them not letting her re-record it like the old singles. If they had at least added some stronger beats to the remix... (Interestingly, ANN is about to surpass GTFO in spotify streams soon)

Caution could have worked, but it would have needed some extra work to become a big hit, IMO.

They should have pushed GTFO at its fullest.
They started already bad with the day of release, other than that it would have charted on the Hot 100 and maybe the song would have seen more success in the following weeks. A remix could've boosted the track a bit. It was going viral at some point.

With You should've been released as the last single, or a Valentine's Day Edition. It did its thing and was a "hit" on Adult Contemporary.

ANN with those unknown features was a waste of time and money.

Caution sounded like a hit for me.
And Stay Long Love You too, especially when Gunna was popular and the song is a total bop for me.

But oh well, it is what it is.
