I can't believe It's a Wrap is still growing but yes!!!

It's a great song. It has so much personality. The lyrics are all quotable and the melody and delivery are perfect.

I have been spinning Memoirs a lot lately. I really enjoy it!

Someone said on here earlier that Mariah's tone is great on this album. I agree but also feel like there are filters that make it sound heavier than she sang it, if that makes sense. I would love to hear the raw stems.

Memoirs stems have really lush reverb and delays, more than on TEOM and E, sounds gorgeous, you can really hear it on the sparse tracks like Candy Bling and Angels Cry

Unlike other albums, they’re only “wet,” so no raw vocals

I remember the stems even had the reverb used in the label, it was TC Electronic 6000

The thickness also comes from a lot of her doubling her lead vocals, that’s something she’s done since Emotions, but didn’t do much of on some albums like Rainbow, Glitter, CB, and TEOM

There is some weird kind of filter on Betcha and HATEU though (“we went round for round”), but it’s not like those are the best vocals on the album anyway

I like some of the vocals a lot. I actually like how raw and dry she sounded on Cry for example. It fit the tone of the song. I think other than OMT and Heavenly the vocals sound pretty good. Of course I am not counting Thirsty because that is clearly an intentional use of effects and not "trickery" lol

This makes sense. Doubling of the lead vocals is really difficult to do without it sounding bizarre. When I try to do that on recordings it removes a lot of the texture from my vocals, but Mariah's texture is preserved and even enhanced. She is a true master. The layering on Memoirs is very well done on most tracks. Even Standing O, which is not one of my favorites, has impeccable vocal production that really elevates the song.

I agree, I wouldn't say we've been spoiled because we've been waiting for a new album for nearly 5 years now. Side projects like The Rarities or Anniversary Editions are fun but they don't contribute at all to her overall discography. I'd be fine with random singles, even. But the fact that there's nothing and she's still saying things like "I'm not working on a specific album"... girl, get your act together.

I dunno, I think The Rarities is a better album than Rainbow, Charmbracelet and Einstein, and I use it way more than any early 90s albums so for me it's actually a bit of a highlight in her Discography.

Totally agree with this. I listen to tracks from the Rarities all the time and am so glad we have it. Did I just stupidly pay $100 for the vinyl re-release? You bet I did. And with the GLARING omissions (There For Me, There Goes My Heart say hi) I'm actually dying for a Rarities 2.0

I think eventually a lamb organized buying party should happen but not until streams are higher so we can try and get a billboard placement

but I keep checking even the top iTunes 200 under R&B and Pop and yeah it’s nowhere to be found. I know her discography is categorized weirdly on iTunes. Memoirs should definitely be under R&B but I’m not sure if that’s the case. When Obsessed was having a resurgence I think it was on the pop charts.
