As far as I'm concerned, the moment Mariah reached 25 years, she should have automatically been inducted in the R&R Hall of Fame. She is a God level talent of the highest calibre. Funny how the only album she “shades” is her most successful by far. I’ve never personally heard her shade Music Box, just the situations surrounding it.

I love music box.. yes it’s very AC but it’s high end AC and her vocals on that album are just otherworldly. It’s the album that pulled me in so I have a major soft spot for it.

I also really like Music Box. I agree it's high end AC, but more than that its R&B influences are all through it. It's more interesting than the standard pop ballad fare.

The R&B and club mixes from this period are exceptional.

30th anniversary this year too. I want a celebration Mariah.

In the memoirs booklet I remember her saying Music Box was like a greatest hits records. Some of her biggest hits are in. Maybe she just throws fun shade at it

The only song I use off Music Box is Dreamlover.

Hero is cute for concerts but I would never listen to it otherwise. WY is also a good sing-along at concerts (but it's 80% lipsync even though it's the closing song in Europe so not worth getting excited about).

I worship Music Box. It was my first Mariah album. Along with Butterfly it is the only album which I have truly worn out by overplaying it so much that the CD scratched and couldn't be played anymore. I still have it tho... but i also have my new MB copy.

Hero is my anthem or one of them. I will never understand people who dislike that offering from God. I have to agree tho, that i would also take any live version over the album recording.

For me Music Box and part of Daydream are the only ones that I call AC riah. The debut is more pop-R&B and Emotions is soul (and maybe few ballads are AC).

She can still do them pretty easy live (just skip the high belts at the end)
