Really hoping at least one track from Caution will go viral one day. I think of all her albums, it's the one that truly needs justice and resurgence.

I just heard 8th Grade a few minutes ago. How this song still sounds this fresh, almost 5 years later,WOW...

Not to say it is fair, but MC has said some things publicly about them that might make the noms a bit hard to come by for her. She would need critical acclaim and stellar sales in order for them to begrudgingly offer her one.

AIWFCIY should also have been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time ago... how much more impactful and legendary could a song become? lol.

I hate the Recording Academy. Mariah is not only my only fave who is judged "too bad for a Grammy"... there are tons upon tons of incredible (non-US/UK) acts out there who are never considered for anything.

That is why the Grammys could never be considered the "most important" and most globally relevant music prize... because they only consider a handful of artists.

In the past 10-15 years they awarded the same people over and over. The group of recipients (of the more relevant Grammy categories) has become smaller and smaller.

Taylor will always win for sth.
Adele only needs to announce an album and gets nominated.
Beyoncé doesn't even need to release new music, she gets nominated annually.
Throw in a veteran like U2 or Springsteen, a nomination is always guaranteed.
John Legend, Coldplay, Bruno, Billie etc...


Mariah only received recognition these days from the so-called "R&B community".

And knowing Mariah, it is the only validation that would mean sth to her.

I want to remind everyone that just a few months ago, Rolling Stone Magazine ran a weeks long hate campaign littered with fake news against her in order to undermine her Christmas domination. White media was really busy trying to spin Mariah as some sort of satanic anti Christian and they even used old-aged black veteran acts as a puppet to spew their agenda and I am convinced now that the person in question doesn't even know what she did.

That might be true. That's what I was referring too, but I hear what you are saying. She should have won more awards in the 90s way before she ever said anything negative about them.

I don't really know anything about the machinery behind any of it though, I just always got the vibe that the industry itself didn't give Mariah her due, in the beginning because they felt she was a label creation (even though others in the same situation did not appear to have a problem winning these things) and then later because of some of the honesty she showed later on.

Maybe she just never played the suckup as much as others.

I feel like the success of the records/singles and the awards based on fan votes are a lot more meaningful anyway.

I don't know how a MC fan could ever take a position like that (after her initial run), but I do remember that as well. You have the odd lamb that basically acts like she should retire to avoid damaging her legacy, people can be weird.

Yep so much unnecessary behavior occurred during the Memoirs era. It was messy. Mariah releasing Caution shows that she is fully capable of releasing music that reminds everyone how great she is

I just went to look for IAW on YouTube. The only version that came up was the MIAM version, and that was about 5 videos down the list. The first two videos are bootleg sped up versions, which have just under a million views between them.

Only when you scroll down to the MIAM version (a measly 199k views) and then click on it does it give you the MOAIA version in the side bar (676l views).

"Playing the industry game" for her would be sticking with the Music Box sound,being a label puppet while also remain married to Mottola... Had that happened ,just maybe, she'd be the Biggest selling female artist on the planet today but her legacy would be NOWHERE near as impactful as it is now.

It's actually comforting that she's managed to stay relevant and remain an A-lister without being like the others.
