Y'all what if Mariah came back with a rap album. I could definitely see that despite her age she’s always done what she’s wanted to do and we all know she likes hip/hop rap.

No far from retired. But she’s not under any label obligation to release an album. She’s tired of dealing with the corporate morgue. She’s an artist in her 50’s who isn’t going to get the label support she needs to get album campaign off the ground. Her last few albums have not sold well so she’s focused on catalog curation and has been for a long time. Fans need to accept this instead of hoping for some commercial comeback.

As has been said, I’m sure Mariah is creating in some capacity but it might not see the light of day.

While this is understandable, the part around getting label support in her 50s I have to disagree with. If she found the right label, created some stellar, commercially appealing music (Caution was beautiful but there were no “hits” on it), then like Cher, Madonna, Elton John and many other veteran artists who have been in their 50’s, she could get label support and investment. I guess that’s what fans are hoping for, which is totally understandable too.
