The rarities was so special because it was new music with nearly every stage of her voice.. Debut, Music Box, Daydream, Rainbow, and all the rest..

like a brand new album but showcasing every quality she’s showcased vocally over the 20+ years..

Rarities should have sold millions. Its like a gift to the world, a music treasure: hidden gems and the evolution of the greatest vocalist of the last 50.years, plus THAT live concert from Tokyo Dome. All that in the same release. Incredible⁶

I am not sure what exactly the issue was when she planned to tour Brazil, but cancelled later on.

I don't think anybody knows exactly what happened. Rumour has it she never got paid by the brazilian promoter, and since it was a sort of "consortium" between promoters in different countries all the concerts got canceled. The thing is these brazilian concerts seemed wrong the entire time, really big stadiums with really (really!) expensive tickets which translated into low ticket sales (weeks before the tour, you could get one ticket for free by spending like $600 in one shopping)

She indeed said there was going to be a new album later in the year. I believe she first talked about it in spring.
But the official release date announcement came just a little before the actual date.

While the promo was mid and short lived, the build to Caution was actually great. She was posting studio pics all year, there were little hints as to who she was working with, she was stepping out looking fit and like herself (which was the first time in years). Ugh I miss 2018.
