her lipping is so random and stupid. Like... back in the day when she was singing 95% of Hero live and then would go on to lip the final climax is beyond me.

Lower the damn key, Mariah and you'll be fine. And if you voice can only carry a show of 40 minutes... then so be it I'd rather take 40 minutes of everything live than her usual 90 minutes with the ILT chorus being lipped. That's the most hurtful one to me bc ILT is my favourite LIVE song of hers.

it takes a lot to do a professional 10 sec clip once a year. I wouldn't even know where to start. Monroe and Moroccan are probably already cutting out the green screen from old curtains... that takes time... they also have to do their homework.

And then Mariah has to call a director... like anyone would do... but with her long nails, it takes weeks to dial a number on the phone, especially when she is on vocal rest... like 99% of the time now.

And then, they have to plan out the production of the video and the budget. Mariah currently can only spend $675 from her own money bc Stella stole her LV bags with her wallet in it. That is why Mariah also doesn't know what a "bill" is bc our girl wasn't able to pay for anything since 2017.

Furthermore, the shooting of that 10 sec video will take at least 7 months bc MIMI must choose the perfect wig made of unicorn hair and that red xmas suit that she loves wearing is currently at the North Pole where Mrs Claus has to iron it.

And then she is sown into that which takes 3 weeks. It takes 3 weeks because Mimi cannot breathe in it and so she has to store oxygen within herself... in her body... which must last for a couple of months.

And then they have to go into editing after the shooting... Mariah has to call the CGI team from Disney again and they have to work day and night for the correct lighting and filters.

In the end, Walter and Tommy are getting the bill bc they are always promoting the song more than she does each Xmas... so it is only fair. Also, they righfully let the world know that Mariah had NOTHING to do with the song... other than singing 3 notes and the rest is autotune or whatever.

Right now, I'm praying that she can stay on schedule for "It's Time"... I've seen her engage with IAW over the past few days and we all know after working so hard for 1 minute in total, she needs at least 11 months of carribean holiday time to recover and re-chart her batteries.

Y’all are conflating or batching together pitch-shifting (changing the key) with AutoTune and Melodyne (pitch correction), but I get it, sometimes when a song has both like “Thirsty” or “Heavenly,” she doesn’t sound like Mariah

There’s AutoTune on WBT Valentine’s but not pitch-shifting, same with The Distance, A No No, and all of MCIIY

There’s subtle pitch shifting on Subtle Invitation but not AutoTune

It’s the AutoTune, not pitch-shifting, that fuchs with her tone, but like I said, more realistic software exists now called RePitch, and melodyne is a bit more natural too

You’re right Ally! It’s the autotune/melodyne and some kind of filter which f*cks with her tone. That bothers me more than a subtle pitch shift. But sometimes the pitch shift also goes too far, especially when done together.

Hopefully they use this new software you talk of - or not at all!

If you love her voice only at her peak, then listen to music only from then. Must everything be so broken down for you to digest? Accept what she chooses to do in and out of the studio with her voice, or don't. It's that simple.

When I say Chipmunkriah; I don’t mean the obvious, on-purpose editing like You Got Me or Boy.
I mean the pitch editing to make her vocals sound more “girly” and “young”.
I think she first started doing it with Charmbracelet (altho I lowkey believe she actually first started doing it in Rainbow, but not sure) in order to stick with her “brand”. And in time, her vocals kept changing, getting deeper and raspier, so she had to keep up with pitching her vocals. Even her live performances are heavily edited in terms of her pitch. Her Christmas specials (and yes; all of them) are unlistenable to me cause she doesn’t sound authentic. I prefer her real, current tone. So much more emotion and deepness in them.
Not to mention, it’s impossible for her to match the lipped climax parts in her live performances when the pitch of her current live vocals are multiple notes lower than the Highpitchriah vocals. Like, for example Bye Bye live performances. “And it’s true that you reached a better place” line is live, but sounds so different than the rest of the climax. Or “life is oh so cold” in FLAB.
One of the biggest reasons I love Caution so much is the fact that she didn’t alter her climax vocals.

Well I've just listened to Thirsty, One More Try and Heavenly a couple times through with headphones. (Wow, it's been a while since I listened to these.) First off. These are all good, if not, great songs. I enjoyed revisiting them. Heavenly especially. I forgot how good it is.

As for her vocals and pitch editing on those three; I think I'm detecting what you describe as the "girly" sound most on One More Try, especially backing vocals. On Thirsty her voice just sounds dry and thin. Maybe I hear the pitching on the bridges a bit. If there is something going on here, I don't mind it given the kind of song Thirsty is. It works. Heavenly vocals sounds great to me, because most of it is in her lower register, which is where her lovely tone is most comfortable and apparent. I think Caution works so well vocally because it's recorded in this natural comfortable mid, lower register. That's the sweet spot for me. Throw in a nice whistle here and there (which she still seems to have command of) and I'm more than happy. I think her head voice is where things can get weird sometimes. I'm not sure if it's studio trickery or the nature of her instrument. That range often sounds thin and tinny. Much of MIAM sounded that way to. I love the raspy but not the scratchy. If that make sense.

I don't drink much at all. An occasional beer or mixed drink. Pina Colada and Irish Creme are good. Since Black Irish is a variation on Irish Creme I thought I'd try it and support Mariah (the former singer). I know it is distributed in the US, I just haven't found a store that carries it. I live in a rural area. I'd probably find it in the city.
