I think I still prefer UTS. I like the nostalgic production. Her vocals are so lush on this one too. They sound a bit huskier, like a preview of Butterfly. Whistles are insane. I also adore the Drifting remix.

Daydream is one of the best albums ever recorded. Every track is quality, and Slipping Away was just a bonus track!
I adore the Drifting mix too.

          • I've always wondered something? If an artist charts multiple songs in the top 10 on the Billboard hot 100 Simultaneously, does each song count towards their weeks on the hot 100 separately or does it count as one week that they're on the Billboard hot 100 top 10? Example if an artist charts 5 songs in the top ten and they stay there for 5 weeks. Do they get credited for 5 weeks in the top 10 or 25?
I love all things Mariah. DAAAAHHHHLING!!!!

              • UTS (Drifting rmx) is everything! Feels like a part of Butterfly.
I wish the original adlibs at the end were also on it tho.

They're fantastic. His production was on point, and I love the way she re sings the verses

Thank you. It amazes me how streaming has changed how we view charting and what is considered successful impact. It changed the game. So many artists are having success that otherwise wouldn't with streams with slight few exceptions(Taylor Swift, Adele, and depending on the record Beyoncé; can sell without it) It's astonishing to me.

We were just discussing this in the chart thread.

When I was a kid, I bought my favorite 45 singles and albums and I played them until I wore them out, then bought another. Later I did the same with cds. That is how I "consumed" my music. But Billboard did not and could not count that consumption. Imagine if they had. Streaming is the equivalent now, while actual sales are nearly irrelevant, personal consumption via streaming can be and IS counted.

It's a totally different standard of measurement.

Still, I am happy that Mariah has experienced enormous success in both the physical and digital eras.

                          • One random thinking is that I want Mariah to bring back the males background singers. I love them during the debut era

Unlike artists who come out today, Mariah at least got to enjoy the benefits of physical sales, especially her lucrative publishing that put her ahead of her non-writer peers. I agree that it’s interesting to know exactly how many times a song has been ‘consumed’, but knowing an album like Music Box shifted 28 million physical copies worldwide seems so much more of a success. I wonder if things ever could have turned out differently monetarily for artists if those old white men hadn’t “given the music industry away” (to paraphrase Mariah)?

Just posted my top five. I don't keep a personal chart, or have a way to count the songs I streamed most (unless Spotify has a counter I'm not aware of), so they are just my favorite songs of the week.
