I honestly had to Google Billie Porter to figure out who he was.

Then I realized he was the one that performed a song on the last special. It takes all kinds, it's crazy for someone to appear on a national TV special and then bad mouth her afterwords. But, some people will do or say anything for attention. Google didn't return any results, so I'm not sure what the venue was or what is really being talked about though.

I don't really see anything bad about what Billy said there, he said the whole thing was a mess -- which, clearly it was. He didn't say anything specifically negative about Mariah. I love Mariah to death and I can admit that moment was unprofessional and embarrassing for all involved.

The Rockefeller performance was 2014, the EU tour was 2016. She had her old team at the time of the 2014 performance.

The main issue at that very time was Mariah’s divorce from Nick. She was due to tape her performance the night before she actually did but had to cancel due to divorce negotiations. Those were still happening at the time she taped so it obviously wasn’t the best time for her. Again… there’s context to every situation. Just as there’s context as to why she hasn’t been as prolific with her output in recent years. Life happens, business happens. It often doesn’t happen as we or Mariah wants. That’s why we get to enjoy her 15 studio albums, accept that we mightn’t get much new material going forward but enjoy whatever comes our way whenever it does.

In all respect to Mariah and her private issues we‘ll never understand, expecting her to produce finally a light-hearted, radio friendly sing a long song - we her lambs and the general listeners would like - isn’t like asking for a solution for world peace.

At the end, it depends on her if she wants to deliver once again music with potential to succeed or not. She knows a zillion producers. To me it seems like she doesn’t want to - because she doesn’t want to adapt / do pop-radio friendly songs.

Oh and I wouldn’t be sad if that book adaptation will never happen as those productions with/about music stars always look cringe to me.

An informative Netflix docu would be much better and more mass-appealing.

I'm not a fan of celebs racking up these noms for either perfunctory contributions or 'producer by chequebook only' status... if they've had no real engagement or contributions to the process. Kinda like songwriting by changing a word ... I could be totally wrong here (are they merely financial backers or actual producers?)... anyway, the number of egot winners now is laughable and kinda sullies this a bit.

Having said that I do hope this production wins and Mariah gets herself a tony award eventually. I know this isn't a Tony Award nom... just saying.
