I remember hearing a snippet of GTFO and imagining it building up to a good chorus.. when I first heard it I was so disappointed.. knew it was a flop..
5 years later I absolutely love it. It was so different for her and so funny. It’s brilliant! I also think it’s because it’s attached to Caution and so in keeping of that album. Fantastic
To avoid any upset, please note; anything I post is purely my opinion. If I feel it is a fact, I will state that I feel it is a fact. Lol.
We forget how big Shake It Off was sometimes! It would’ve been a big #1 for her… for weeks if it wasn’t for WBT & Gold Digger.
What an iconic day in music history having the top 2 of the Hot 100. Ashanti did the same in 2002 but not with 2 leads. This was the exact moment in time Kween became the all time GOAT for female artists.

SIO grew me on a lot.
I think it's brilliant... great lyrics, sultry smooth vocals, great melody and a bounce in Mariah's vocals... great R&B. It deserves to smash. By far the best Shake It Off ever.

Casualflow, I beg to differ. I think I’m the big Lamb! I’ve been a Lamb since 7th grade in 1990, when I first hear VOL! I sent her a letter with my school picture and asked her if I could join her has a background singer!
She’s an artist and, I might not consider some songs as her best, but I respect her output.
No offense Stevvy. Since day one, she captured my heart.
I might not be a complete fan of some songs, but, as a singer, I’ve just always appreciated her output and her compositions. She’s genius! I’ve had friends talk down about her throughout her career and I can’t give a f!
I never doing rankings of album tracks because it’s way to hard and will always change.
My brother, who bought me the debut after I fell in love with VOL, regretted it. He was more into Bjork, who I love me too. But, at the time, we had different tastes in music. He did not like Mariah.
But, I remember, when, Emotions, hit the radio, my brother came running from the car, came into the house, and told me to turn on the radio station. Mariah’s new song was on the radio. That was the first time I hear Emotions! If was wasn’t sold by the debut and Vanishing, Sent from Up Above, Alone in Love. VOL, etc, she now had me in her grasp! By giving me her debut album as a gift, I would not be the beast Lamb he created!
I bought Butterfly when I was 5. That’s my first cassette ever. I was obsessed with the My All video.
Then she disappeared from my radar, until Through The Rain. And I bought Charmbracelet. And with It’s Like That, I became a lamb at the age of 13 and the rest is history.
