The only place I can hear it is on the last whistle at the very end, I live for MCs voice with reverb, but it a very raw vocal not an ounce of a particular “effect” as some of y’all call the software on 2010 - 2020 vocals
The only showy part is dem whistles, just one with more Belteriah at the end would have made it more powerful, but dey back which we will celebrate
Fairweather “lambs” will enjoy, adult radio, never underestimate the power of ChestRiah voice on a basic beat, the full voice tone is so rich and clear
If the high note section were replaced with a rap i could even see it being an Urban radio hitLast edited by allygdale; Thu June 10, 2021, 01:19.

We tend to turn into critics when a new song comes out because we stan a vocal queen and a producer
As lambs, all that matters is how the song makes us feel, and Somewhat Love is really doing it for me, dem verses take me back to a time when music and melodies were less clinical and more emotional
If we get more songs with her current vocals or an actual album which may actually be happening this year or next, we are so lucky

There are some things I'm hearing in her voice that I'm very pleased with. She's doing a lot of runs and switching notes all over the place and her voice is very connected and strong. There's a certain "r&b" vibe in her voice that I haven't heard on record in a while and that really makes me excited for the next album. She seems to be in a good place vocally, so I'm hoping her current creative/inspired moment that she recently mentioned is accurate and that she delivers. I can't wait.
I do agree that the bridge comes across as messy, but it sounds a bit better and understandable in good headphones/earbuds.
Anyway. I enjoy the song and it makes me want to hear more and what's next.

We go through this same thing with every new Mariah song.
Then again, it’s not a “Mariah” song. It’s a Jimmy Jam & Terry song.
I remember the “ugh” reaction from Lambs when Say Something leaked. And, with many other lead songs.
Lambs can be so judgmental when not needed.
just like when GTFO came out. It was so experimental for her and it set up some the the experimental sounds she did with Caution.
but, when some here the first song they prejudge.

After reading all the negative comments, I thought I was in for the most disastrous song of her career. The song will definitely not be a hit, but I like it, especially the chorus and the way it builds up at the beginning. Also like the 90s vibe.

I mean, did y’all not get goosebumps as Mimi sang these lyrics over a harp
We stood there alone
In that silent corridor
Those unspoken words conjured fixation
Capturing me
Dem lyrics are so Butterfly and not at all Memoirs
I can’t help but wonder if she re-wrote the first verse this year in addition to doing the vocals

Also am I reaching when I say that her whistles sounds like she is saying Break my heart over and over ( like 4 times in the bridge)Last edited by InFamous; Thu June 10, 2021, 03:37." Princess of Pop Katy Perry "

This was an interesting read. It goes into the statistics of Mariah Carey’s influence on the music industry and what makes her music unique.

I absolutely love the vibe from "Somewhat Love". It's very soothing and chill, unlike her other standalone singles so far.
At first, I was bummed when people said this is a mix of ballad and up-tempo and sounded like Save the Day but in my opinion this is way better than STD.
Great way to start the day.She was kind of fragile and she had a lot to grapple with but basically she kept it all inside ...

First listen I was like she was eating her lyrics specially the first verses I am having a hard time understanding the words... but I love it!!!
If you're gonna ask me if it's going to be a hit NO, unless she gets out of her comfort zone she can't get a hit (my 2 cents) and I will be more than happy to be wrong in this case...

Thank god I didn’t read those negatives comments before listening to the song. I’m shock how much hate it’s getting. I loved the song from the very first listen and got goosebumps to hear a new MC song. Th 2nd verse is so beautiful, I’m in love. The song sounds great with good earphones

You have to look for the Dolby logo, it doesn’t have it
