I like the new song for what it is. The chorus is really catchy. The new vocal is good, comforting, reassuring.

Verses sound like a medicore bridge, bridge is a total mess... the only thing good about the song is the chorus. Whistle outro is kinda cool too. I don't like it unfortunately. But I only had one listen to it, so maybe it will change

But their Babyface song did climb to over 1.3M, which are great figures for them!

Unfortunately a very underwhelming song and I already had very low expectations from that snippet leak.

The production is not it even for today's RnB standards and it doesn't go anywhere. The chorus is the only memorable thing about it whereas everything else is patch work.

To think that this production team were the ones that did All For You with Janet. Why can't she do a fresh sounding and urgent song like that with them instead of this mid-tempo song that clearly has been done to death before and has not worked for her since DFAU. Yes they're RnB producers from the old days but it is not even at the level of some of their past songs.

Vocally this is a step in the right direction from that slightly thin vocals on the WBT Remix. Though there's something about the slightly childish way she finishes notes or adds flourishes (eee-ey-ehh-ee) which is a bit off putting for me which coupled with her tone not generally being as warm these days can be rather jarring at times. She has done rather well recently (in tours and on pandemic performances) to sing out the notes properly and not let it break, that should be the direction.

If this song was part of the Mariah Discography rate, i'll probably give it a 3/10 or thereabouts, just not feeling it at all despite a few listens.

On to MC16 please and hopefully something more inspired. Still waiting for that IKNWYW style of firestarter before MC16.

I admit I was always jealous that mariah never did anything as fresh or catchy with J&L as All For You. I’d have loved that to have been Mariah’s song in 2001 haha

I wonder if JJ&TL layered this track themselves. Some bits of this just doesnt seem like her work in that the layers don't necessarily work well together and where the background almost crashes into the main vocals.

It's fun to have them. Some will love it, some will hate it, some will find it ok-ish, but at least we have new music and new things to discuss about.

It’s kinda messy but I like it. There’s element of the production that I would strip back… especially the cosmic kinda keyboard sound that comes in between the choruses and verses, it’s far too loud in the production.
