She looked good, but she sounded terrible. I would argue that 2007-2009 saw many of her worst performances ever. I think we can admit that 2008 was not a good vocal year for her.

It seems to run in ten-year cycles. Caution is a spiritual sister to Einstein because of the subdued vocals and chill vibe, though it is the superior album. Also, it had much better performances.

I disagree.
"Terrible" is an exaggeration.
Yeah, she was raspy and her voice wasn't in great shape, but she was super confident and she was really going for the notes.
Amazing attempts during that Era, that IMO is very underrated.
Her tone was also gorgeous.
And yeah, she had bad performances, like in every other year.

Of course Caution is better but we're not comparing albums.
Also, her voice was healthier during Caution Tour, but she was pretty restrained with her vocals and lacked confidence, except for the return of the live whistles (a thing that I'm super happy about it). Tone was also beautiful (most of the time).

Speaking of my gym playlist, Mariah presided over my workout yesterday. It was NOT a good day, and I went just to get the endorphins. I knew I'd be okay when the first song up during my cardio session was I Don't, followed by a Triumphant remix iwhen I switched machines, and was feeling good AF by the time Where I Belong played at the end. My playlist usually bypasses the Mariah tracks, but somehow knew that I needed her yesterday.
