Why does she need to keep them as a secret when she gave away about Brandy. It must be a big group.

I think they need the excitement as part of what will drive listeners. It's also smart as a marketing strategy to somewhat be in charge of that communication, and not just announce it like this at 4am on Twitter Spaces. They need to make news that creates ripples. Especially if it's going to be a big song. I think the duet with Brandy is not meant to necessarily be a record breaking single. It's more of a friendly collaboration. (And it will probably be a better song than whatever their planned single is!)

And I do believe Mariah wants that 20th #1. It would bring so much full circle for her. If anything, to prove people wrong.

A big difference may be that the Brandy collab is her project vs. the collab with the group may be the group's project. So she feels comfortable talking about something she's in charge of vs. something she is not?

Not as in something big like break another record.

As for the Korean moment, she performed In Korea at the Michael Jackson concert. So she had moments with him in Korea.
It was obviously about her and Michael when she spoke of the Korean moment(s).
It's got nothing to do with BTS.

If we’re doing hypotheticals and we’re talking a rock group I could see her working with Aerosmith or The Foo Fighters before Coldplay or U2. I think both groups have teased wanting to work with her in the past. Also, The Foo Fighters just released an album with a bunch of Bee Gees covers and they did justice to the disco-pop sound.

Never realized Mariah her chart success in Brazil is so huge. I knew about the IWTKWLI epic chart run… but did not realize she has so many number 1’s over there. Impressive. How does that compare to other countries in South America? And why does she not tour there more often?

What number 1s in Brazil are you talking about? I don't know about any official singles chart there before 2009. I think only IWTKWLI was an official #1.

I’m hoping it’s a more behind the scenes group. She said they are going in a different direction with SUD, maybe they can re-work it with new guitarists and such.

One of my immediate thoughts was U2... but that's only cause they've been complimentary in the past and also wishful thinking on my part, and I don't think that's realistic at all

I don't want BTS (or any other young poppy group like that) but we already got Bieber and frankly I think I am more impressed by BTS so wouldn't be disappointed as much if it's a foregone conclusion.

Also, the "just be happy" for me might be that Mariah feels our reactions might not be positive, or we might not be excited and she just wants us to... "just be happy" for her. But it could also mean it's something she's really really wanted to do for a long time.

I think a Christmas song with a rapper could be interesting, something like Here Comes Santa Claus. But only if it's someone like Post Malone who would bring attention to this project and not Shawni's brother.

The "male group" thing is such a mystery, I know she's not on good terms with some of the members but could it be Boyz II Men? It would make sense for a Christmas song and they were on the Jam & Lewis album too. A part of me wants it to be BTS for that 20th number 1 though.

Kinda off topic but also relevant Dev Hynes has started directing the videos for his latest collaborations like Mykki Blanco ‘It’s not my choice’ he also directed Becks ‘Uneventful days’. Hopefully if he works with Mariah we could get an interesting visual.

If she does this ‘raw’ album and documentary well this could really be something special I am praying she does reach out to the Salaam’s and Dev’s to give the sound something different.

It's completely on topic and one could only hope it happens. Here's the thing, Mariah can make a real masterpiece if she gives up just a tiny bit of control to Salaam, Saadiq and Hynes if only to to shape the sound a little bit.
