The version with westlife still belongs to the Rainbow era, if not for the time proximity to the album then for the relation of the cover being on the album.
It is not ON the album, but belongs to the era.My Chart

It was driven by Westlife fans to no 1, who purchased their album, on which the duet was actually included.
Rainbow was a massively promoted era in Europe. It even had a tour as well. But unlike its great performances in Germany and France, the British public was not that supportive of the album. And that is what I find odd.
But that been the case too, with a lot of her albums towards the end of the 1990s and the early 2000s.
Glitter and especially CB performed rather well in France, but didn't do much (with the exception of CB in the UK) in the other 2 major markets.
TEOM did well in the UK, but did not do too well in France and Germany.
The last time she had a studio album doing remotely well and close in total sales in all 3 major EU markets was Daydream.

Of course it’s still a joint collaboration and Mariah are the lead artist with Westlife. But she didn’t even put the song as bonus in a reissue of rainbow album. It was basically their song with her
To me, there is only a difference between features and a duet.
In a duet both acts have 50:50 credit.
In a feature, there is a lead artist and a featured act.
But if you think that AAO is a Westlife song more than a Mariah song, then your remark above doesn't make sense. My Chart

No one is discrediting the duet is not 50/50 because it’s not on rainbow but it’s on Westlife album
For Westlife, the song is part of their album era as well.My Chart

Mariah had an album out 10 months before AAO duet version dropped... with the original cover being on the album. Thence, I see the entire duet as part of the Rainbow era.
For Westlife, the song is part of their album era as well.
But everyone else does not have to agree with you. The duet version was done way after the Rainbow album was released and was not included in any way on the original album or was it part of the vision for said album. It came MUCH later and was the lead single from someone elses album. Thence, if other people don't really see it as part of the rainbow era you can agree to disagree and respect said opinion, instead of insisting that you are correct ad nauseum."
