I wonder how the single will be dealt with.

Khalid has an EP coming himself and I believe Kirk Franklin may be working on his own Christmas promotions. He has a special on Lifetime in December. I wonder if the three will all take ownership for it or if it will be only Mariah doing the heavy lifting.

Imagine if this new song is the lead single from Merry Christmas III and she’s been recording that for the last god knows how long….. I need news lol.

She probably has a non compete clause with Apple regarding anything Christmas so I’m sure it’s linked with the special and not on the other Feat projects. Would be nice to see full on promotion like banners & billboards everywhere from Apple since they said budget was higher this year.

I hope she surprises us but we know Mariah hasnt been really good at promoting her last singles. Im scared about it. I hope she does promote it this time

I'd honestly prefer if they use some of the budget for awards season tbh.

But I must admit I was truly impressed by just how extensively they promoted the Special and tied in Apple Music and iTunes.

Yeah in terms of streaming, I wonder how Spotify and Amazon will treat not only the new single but also AIWFCIY.

If they play shady and move AIWFCIY all the way down playlists, then there may be trouble in the water, especially if Sony doesnt respond with discounts or CD singles or another means of getting sales/streams.

AIWFCIY will prevail. This playlist thing is huge of course. But I doubt that it was the ONLY reason for the song's streaming success.

I hate how Spotify and Amazon could just decide to make the song less available if they wanted. What kind of Nazi-esque scheme that would be.

never. Miss you most... as welll NOT. Both songs have abysmal streams.

That's lovely. I love the song too. Everyone on here does, I believe. We all gush over it. But the GP doesn't care one bit. (Same with any MIAMTEC tracks, included the much praised Faded).

The first few years it was treated here as a double a-side with All I Want For Christmas. The video was regularly on tv. Also, several Dutch artists covered the song.

She loved the Netherlands so much. It was her #1 EU market in the entire 1990s decade. (in relation to market size).

True. And we loved her. She could do no wrong in the 90s here and made a great return with TEOM.
Wish she had done more promo for the other era's here as well.

They won't come for AIWFCIY because the song is organically too big and therefore pointless to sabotage. Spotify needs the song, not vice versa.

The Oh Santa sabotage was so ridiculous last year. All their playlists started with Mariah and Ariana and it would have been the most logical thing to put Oh Santa right up there. I'm hoping that's what they'll do this year at least.

Also this might be why Mariah releases the Khalid collab in November, so there is no need for a Apple exclusive

but OS wasn’t exclusive either. It was available in every stream service at the same time. The only exclusivity Apple had was the whole album but was only for 1 week

True but they did keep Oh Santa out of playlists for that first "Apple exclusive" week. It was definitely connected.

I don't really understand why anyone thinks there is anything strange about this. Spotify might not even have been allowed to playlist it until the first week passed, seeing as it featured on the album which was an apple exclusive. That is literally how exclusives work. Who knows what the legal ramifications were. I mean fans just invented this "sabotage" thing and ran with it.

The label better be using the success of these specials/the money being made the last couple Christmas eras to invest in a better budget for next album promo
