Music videos would definitely help. Also I agree that she has really done a lot for the album. Although most of the focus, understandably, is on AIWFCIU, and in some places like the UK that does not have the same impact on the album as it does in the US, because of the streams being averaged rule.

It re-entered the official chart there for the first time ever in 2020. I hope it can chart for 2 weeks or maybe even 3 weeks there this year.

The album's most supportive markets in Europe are Italy and Netherlands (by sales) and the entire Scandinavian league by chartruns.

France is probably one of the weakest markets for the album and I have 0 idea why that is. The album is believed to have sold less than 100k there, despite being at over 300k in both Germany and UK and over 400k in Italy (and at around 3 million in Japan).

Btw, as much as I love and enjoy Mariah talk about the vision and expertise she has in singing, writing and producing songs, I am just not too sure about Mariah doing a MasterClass at this stage of her career, especially as a singer/vocalist.

It makes more sense for the likes of Anna Wintour, Bobbi Brown, Marc Jacobs and Gordon Ramsey to do so as a Masterclass would compliment their career really well. But for Mariah Carey, this would be something she could do in a decade or two (rather than now), when she will probably be less active in making new music.

Also, imho, this somehow “cheapens” her Mariah branding as a vocalist and a music writer/producer. I think a singing Masterclass would be more appropriate for the likes of Xtina, Alicia, and Katy Perry, in which the dynamics of their careers is way different to Mariah’s (I love all of them, but they are just not at Mariah’s level at all, which is a fact). Mariah is absolutely not in their league, she’s too important and too ‘big’ as a music icon to do a Masterclass. Maybe in the future, she could have her OWN singing classes, solely exclusive to her under her own branding (Mimi’s Academy? Looool). That sounds much tasteful and classier than a basic Masterclass.

And do you remember, during the Stella era, someone told her (one of her dancers who then later left her team, can’t remember his name...) that she looks ‘better’ with more ‘tits and booty’? Now from what we have seen this year so far, at least in the Masterclass promo pic and FILAC, she looks equally amazing with more conservative outfits.

The AIW video was clearly funded in multiple directions, Walkers used part of it so they must have part funded it.

My theory is that Buble's albums are more successful than Meemz' cos his album/songs are so easy listening that they can be played in the background noise/ambience (kind of like FILAC and CTIITA). Whereas Mariah's 2 Xmas albums are so bombastic - the production and her voice command attention and force the listener to pay attention (like a fire brigade siren) - this is not suitable for all occassions and can annoy people. You can listen to Bubles' albums anytime (or in my case, never ) whereas Mariah's songs are like "events".

Agreed, the GP definitely love MB's Christmas songs. Not for me though. Never really listened to his songs. I'd normally go for likes of Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby and Dean Martin for Xmas oldies.

Fall In Love with Fall In Love At Christmas Time



OK amongst all the news of new promotional items. Let's take it back a bit to the single that was released last week. Surely people haven't forgotten about that already.

If you recall last week, I despised the snippet and felt that it was the wrong direction and vocally was just not it.

Well, none of that has really changed but I have been listening to it daily since it was released and can say that I no longer despise the song. It's actually quite good and I would say much better than the singles like I Don't, Infamous, Save The Day.

These days, I listen to the main song more, only when i forget to skip the gospel ending do I let it play....otherwise I most like the combination of the main version minus the gospel ending.

The Bad:
* Another wasted opportunity to capitalise on the viral tweet. This sound only appeals to a very limited audience, with or without promotion.
* It's very busy particularly towards the end, and upon several listens can be very heavy with the bass upon vocals upon vocals, upon shouting and whistling. This type of Christmas sound
* The enunciation these days and in this song is very weak. The breathy vocals doesn't help. We thought Grande was bad, this is reaching that territory. When a song is very wordy, the enunciation I think is quite important (unless you're a mumble rapper). Is she singing "angels" or "pangels",
* Her vocals, yes we have to accept that this is the state her voice is in but it's just not very pleasant in parts. Very thin, strainy and momments of chipmunkiness (luckily with better mixing than MTEC).
* You can hear the limit in her voice these days at 3:20. The word "fall" is super strained, I don't think it's a stylystic choice it's like she's trying to punch that note but comes off a bit flat.
* The video is cute in parts but her hand movements yet again is a big problem. What on earth is she doing, it's like she no longer knows how to place her hands in shots. Less is more, act natural. I would take shots of Mariah looking into the distance or walking away from the camera or towards an object any day. Also, not too keen on these super slow mo shots.
* A bit too breathy for my tastes. Though I think these days, that's where her voice is most stable and comfortable. I no longer think that it's a stylistic choice, it's clearly where she can control the agility and mask the thinning of her belts. When you are the voice, of course you're not going to say that you no longer can sing those same notes, you have to sidestep it and that's what she's doing.

The Good:
* I'm pleasantly surprised i'm actually quite liking the song as an easy listening (leave in the background kinda song). It's not going to be a classic I don't think, but another song to mix amongst her other stuff.
* As a re
* The melody is quite memorable and bittersweet/nostalgic or invokes a sense of loss....which can definitely connect with certain audiences.
* It's super smooth and when Mariah enters, the song actually lifts
* She is glowing in the video, minus the hand movements and column humping scenes the scenes in that jersey is just perfect.
* I said previously that what left is there when the snippet supposedly the best part....Ok I was wrong, the verses are actually quite sublime and and catchy. I have warm fuzzy feelings when she sings the first
* 1:23 "I'm awake when no one knows" is a vocal momment, slightly orgasmic.
* There voices blend so well....i woulld've loved her to use more straight singing and less breathiness.

If she was she probably would’ve announced by now. So I’m pretty sure she’s not doing any Xmas show and she was doing a lot this year no time to prepare for live shows and rehearsals. Probably she’s doing next year and she’s releasing a new album next year she’s probably gonna go on tour

Hopefully Mariah includes C(BPCH) in the new Xmas TV special - they can then use that clip as an official video for the song and it can be the smash it deserves. It is absolutely the best rendition of the song - better than the original or any other cover. Vanilla Prime-riah belts everywhere - exactly what the public expect from her.

It is a HUGE achievement for Mariah to get McDonalds to alter their iconic packaging and menu just for our Fave. McDonald is for the masses, just like Mariah's xmas songs. Together, they create an affordable way for all families (and non-families) to experience a little festive cheer during a horrible time in the world. McDonalds get to benefit from a sales uplift and free publicity by associating itself with AIWFCIY (the song of the Millenium, I don't need to wait for Billboard to tell me that), and Mariah gets across the board mass publicity of her brand and relevancy from McDonalds' unbeatable reach across all demographics in America. Boom! Whatever we may think about Macca's food's nutritional value, it is a total win overall for Mariah.

Not sure if I agree. Darlenes version charts every year and gets plenty of airplay. I like Mariahs version but it's generally just the lambs who claim it as the definitive version. It does well on streaming but Darlene s version is still the most popular overall.

It's true, Darlene's version is the most popular - but not for too much.
She released the official vid last year and only amassed 1M views and she's performing the song every year on live TV.
Also the sales difference is minimal.
And in terms of streaming, last year Darlene peaked at 3.3M while Mariah's at 2.6M (on Dec 24th).
And Mimi has never promoted the song - apart of that '08 performance.
Btw, on Spotify, Mariah's version has more streams (little difference tho).

If she would start do to something for the song (a video, a live performance on some TV show), it would become the most popular for sure.

We love Darlene, but the song has lots of potential to be bigger. And could be another entry on the big charts for MC.

He started to work with her for the GMA performances in August 2020, and then he did STD, all the TMOM promo interviews, the Xmas stuff from 2020, the Black Irish commercial and now he's been working again for her since the Halloween vid.
