I'm glad we get frustrated about missed single opportunities.. especially from the 90s. The singles she released back then were incredible and the fact we think there were missed opportunities with lots of other songs just shows that her albums were amazing!

In the 00s, there's purely just been frustrating single choices all round, except TEOM!

I appreciate the effort in this! Obviously there's still a lot of acapella moments missing. I would've loved to see more from TECS and the whistles she did in a few interviews in 2014. There was a really pretty one at the end of Hero I think when an Australian interviewer was singing to her

The MoaIA era was legacy-based. She redid photo shoots from previous eras etc. "Obsessed" was for the young crowd and "IWTKWLI" was supposed to reinforce her older fanbase. And I get the tactic... She had big hits with covers in the past and it was assumed she'd have a decent hit with it.

As for "Through the Rain", brand Mariah was weak after the Glitter situation and Def Jam wanted to reestablish her as a ballad singer. Particularly an inspiring singer, echoing hits like "Hero". Again, I get that.

And as for "TAoLG". Pretty sure that was MC's call.
