Kelly Clarkson Back In Studio Working On New Album
Kelly Clarkson has revealed she’s planning to follow up this year’s album, All I Ever Wanted, with another one and has already stepped back into the studio to start work on new material.

kelly-clarkson-kc“We’re already working on it,” Clarkson told KISS FM Chicago about the new songs, which she says will be out in the Fall of 2010. “[The songs] are really different. The next record is going to be really different.”

“If I end up liking stuff that I’ve done then I’ll include it,” she adds. “But if I like other stuff better I’ll use that. Sometimes you’re just more inspired I guess and sometimes if you have records that come out really close together it might be more other people’s songs. Because there’s not enough time to write and sing and perform and do everything.”
    Thoughts?
"Don’t be sad when the sun goes down, you’ll wake up and I’m not around"

Noooo, get her on a treadmill first.

I really liked "My December" and I hope she re-visits that sound at some point in her career. "All I Ever Wanted" was very likeable, and I'm really beginning to get into it again lately, but it just doesn't feel like Kelly was completely present during the recording of the album. It felt as though she'd lost a lot of her principles and did what she was told to in order to rejuvenate her career.

Hoping for another "Breakaway" is obviously to going to bring inevitable disappointment, but out of her last three albums, I think that is the album that I can enjoy the most. It's a perfect mix of Pop and Rock and whilst being very commercial, she still had a lot of edge during that era.

Hmm, its going to take a lot of work for Kelly to become really popular with the public again. To be honest, the singles from the new album sounded quite recycled and dated. She needs to set a new trend

*I agree with the losing weight, she just doesn't look good

This really seems like her own "MOAIA" to me. It's an attempt to recover from "All I Ever Wanted" but it'll just end up flopping harder.

It's sad that AIEW flopped. All was going well when "My Life Would Suck Without You" was released. Than "I Do Not Hook Up" completely killed the era.

And rightly so! It was a terrible decision and it's the worst song she's ever done IMO!

It's obvious that RCA lost the plot with Kelly.

Though "AIEW" wasn't an epic success "AG" seems to have became a hit in spite of the dire consequences and controversy around it and now it looks like there'll be a 4th single from the album.
With that, and a tour that's running till March 2010 I'm sure there'll be a shift of a few more albums. In reality there are alot of artists worse off than Kelly Clarkson.
                      Now on the 5th album...
We were discussing it in the "AG" single thread but usually Idol contracts are for 5 albums so maybe Kelly wants out of RCA, who could blame her, so I wouldn't be totally surprised if that was the master plan. If that is the case I'd much rather an album of new material than an end of contract Greatest Hits with 2 new songs.
I also wouldn't be totally surprised if that release date is totally tentative as we saw both "MD" and "AIEW" take longer that expected.
Happy endings are just stories that haven't finished yet...

I'm hopeing she has already got on it before her tour begins.

not to mention that March '09 and Fall '10 aren't THAT close together (fall at the earliest means what, September? so at least a year and a half apart? Thankful and Breakaway were similarly spaced out)

my bigger problem is if the timing of this really is to blame for her not writing more of the material herself :-? I would much rather her label let her take the time to put out a record that actually means something to her (and has enough commercial appeal to appease Lord Clive, of course)

I just felt like "All I Ever Wanted" was a very bland album..

And please.. lose weight Kelly.. Honestly.. it's not healthy the weight you have now

I think she could be heading towards a country direction with this album. She stated in the past that she would like to do one and in the OP she said that the "next record is going to be really different"

I agree with you phoenix98 but we've seen that RCA's interest isn't in Kely the songwriter it's in Kelly the money maker. The success of "AG" over "IDNHU" in the U.S gives me hope thought because it proves that people DO want to hear what Kelly has to say despite what the label thinks the sales of "My December" say.
I think ultimately they are scared of Kelly creatively and don't know what to do with her so I hope she continues to be vocal about what she wants out of her career.

Hmm, so it could be 'Breakaway'-esque pop/rock, or Taylor Swift-esque country/pop?

I'm really excited about the album none-the-less, I thought AIEW was a pretty solid album, just messy handling. I boggles my mind that 'Don't Let Me Stop You' hasn't been a single, even though 'I Do Not Hook Up' was a top 10 hit here, I still think it perhaps shouldn't have been released, at least not second.

Considering that her AIEW-tour doesn't reach here until April next year, surely she must be releasing another single? (albeit, a very delayed 4th single).

I wish they'd hurry up and confirm when in April she'll be here because I'm in the U.S till march so I'd like to lock in my tickets, lol.

AIEW was a very good record, but definitely not her best effort.. and I agree on the part that she needs to lose some pounds, get better photoshoots (like those on MD) and write her own material, even if it's with someone else's help... but she can't just fade away, at least not yet. She's too talented to be the next Vanessa Carlton, Toni Braxton or Michelle Branch

fall 2010 would be pretty OK i think, would be 1,5yr since a current "All I Ever Wanted". So far all the singles performed quite very well including airplay (unlike only one airplay-active "Never Again" from "My December" era) but the impact to album is not as big as the singles from "Breakway" did.
