Well rumour has it Madonna asked Adele to sing Like a Prayer at the Super Bowl with her (as oppose to CeeLo) but Adele declined. Adele had been on vocal rest and she made her ‘comeback’ a few days later at The Grammys, so I suppose the timing didn’t work or Adele simply didn’t want to!

It's not a rumor. Madonna confirmed herself that she asked Adele who declined. In unrelated news coverage Adele said she won't do it because she wasn't Superbowl type of artist.

No she wasn’t. Adele performed days after The Super Bowl at The Grammys. Clearly she was recovered by then but timing and what not, but Adele I believe used to suffer stage fright too - back in 2012 a stadium shows must have been too big for her.
