Although I see the point that not everyone can pay for Spotify Premium, I also agree that it's a cheap price for such a great service.
Actually,the cheapest it has ever costed to consume music.
Here,I pay R$27.00 for a premium account (although I only share it with bf).
I know in Europe and in the US/Canada, CDs were a lot cheaper but here in Brazil,you had to pay up to over R$40.00 for an international act new released album.
So,it's like I buy one CD each month and even paying less than the regular price.
Difference being I can access (almost) all music I want ,like I said above.
So,yes,I think it's a pretty good price for such an amazing service.

How does Spotify works?

I usually download music from YouTube on my phone

Spotify (and other streaming services like Deezer, Apple Music, Tidal...) work the same way. Some of those have free option (Spotify and Deezer), while others are premium only. It's easy to use any of those. You basically install an app (on your phone/desktop, wherever you play to use it), go into the app, write down in search the artist you wish to listen and just play. All major releases are covered, but certain songs (B-sides of singles, one-off releases) might not be available, but in 99% of artists you'l get 99% of their catalogue.

The thing with the phone app is that the free versions on all services is very limited. While you get the full options while playing music on the webpage/desktop app (play full album start to finish, pick songs you want to play...), unless you pay for premium, you'll only be able to listen to random songs on shuffle and you don't get much say what you listen on your mobile phone. You get a small amount of skips per day (like 3 or so) and after you use them, there's not an option to skip the next song if you really hate it. So if you use your phone for leasure listening and picking what you want, free membership on your phone app won't do it. You also can't download music on your phone so you can save mobile data when you're on the move.

Also Spotify always have offers for new members - in the UK it’s usually £1 for 1 month premium, or occasionally £1 for 3 full months of premium.

Definitely download the app though and try the free versions - it should give you enough of an idea of how great it would be to be premium. Honestly, you’ll be carrying 99% of every song you’ve ever heard in your pocket... and the need to discover new stuff will increase.

I love that I can have access to all the old legends catalogues and can explore them at my own leisure, without having to buy the actual music.

I stream so much the last album I bought (for myself) was Rebel Heart I also now only stream movies and tv shows, getting rid of all my (non Madonna) cds and DVDs.

With streaming apps you also add your own files too, so if you own music that’s not on Spotify, you can just add the MP3s anyway.

Hmmm, if it's about space, then OK, but CD's still offer much better audio quality. It's amazing the difference between streaming from Spotify/Deezer and playing from CD on my home system. The CD sound is always fuller and richer than stream versions of the album (even compared to highest possible stream quality both services offer).

I'm with [MENTION=3976]menime123[/MENTION] on this one.
I don't even own a 'CD player anymore.
Plus,if I'm being honest,i don't have refined ears, so I can't tell ANY difference from CDs to Spotify ,like none at all.
The songs sound pretty much good and I don't have any complaints on that department.
Oh,last buy not least,I'm almost never at home.
I'm always at work,gym, with my kids, going from one place to another ,travelling,etc.
So, even if I still had a cd player,I wouldn't use it. So ,again,Spotify is with me all the time
I still have most of my cds (and even some vinyls) but only because I didn't bother to give them to someone interested lol.
All that to say that,in all fronts,Spotify is a big win-win fot me.

I swear I will never understand when someone says they don't like Spotify (ot any other streming service) for whatever reason.
It makes listening to music the easiest thing of all times , in every single way,I mean.
I didn't download it immediatly (only around 2 years after it became popular) but,once I did it,I was like "how haven't I done this before??"
Like I said,now can't live without it.
