I’ll be honest, it sounds like a rehash of that Golden Floor EP rumour. I have no idea when or how Madonna is going to find time to release an album before her biopic.

Even if they’re working on new material for the movie, Madonna isn’t going to go into a studio with Pat and ‘just see what happens’ and end up with 8 new songs. A movie song is very deliberate and for a particular moment, telling a specific story - so I don’t think it’s for that.

Madonna isn’t going to just randomly release an EP or a new album and not tour. So the only way any of this sound possible is if she’s writing a new album now to release after or alongside her movie, which doesn’t seem likely either to me.

The only other thing I can think of - and I’ve wondered this a few times - is if Madonna isn’t finished with the Madame X concept. Is it possible she wants to create a Madame X EP to include within the DVD/or attach the tour DVD to?

I’m more inclined to think it’s all bull and nothing is happening musically.
I have a bad feeling about this.

    • I admire Madonna. Over the years, she was one of the most mocked people in the media (even though she was ahead of time), and never broke down. She is a very strong woman. In the Erotica era, the media just tried to break her to pieces. And she delivered the masterpiece.

Hope her biopic will be as successful as Queen (or more).

      • I think Madonna in private is very different to her public persona, and I think the media negativity has gotten to her along the way. She has spoken about not having emotional support, someone to turn to when things got tough.

But she is nothing if not resilient. She knows you just have to keep your head down and get on with the job. She rarely put a step wrong in her private life and her backlashes have all been based on her work.

I think one of the only time she’s ever been personally attacked was when she adopted David and she had to go on a promo tour to explain herself. But it’s not like she had a string of exes selling stories on her, played her love life out in the press or had feuds etc. I mean we didn’t know she was getting divorced from Guy until it was finalised in court.

There was a book by her brother, but he never gave anything away other than the fact she refused to pay him wages unless he stopped doing drugs. Not exactly breaking news! Even when Rocco decided he wanted to live with his Dad, the press desperately tried to make it into a huge drama but it wasn’t sustainable as no one gave them any ammunition (and they really tried to push the idea she was on the verge of having a breakdown).

You have to remember that even in the midst of the Erotica backlash, she was still having Top 10 hits - the media went for her, but she was too famous and too in demand to be cancelled (though they played it very safe with only 5 US dates).
I have a bad feeling about this.

        • Unseen footage from Dark Ballet is on Instagram, why didn't she use more of these scenes! Ugh, check out madgeluv on Instagram. Or imperiomadonna on IG

You can watch the director's cut here:

However the IG accounts above quickly show the Madonna parts.

            • I sometimes feel Madonna's artistry won't be truly widely recognized and/or accepted until she's long gone

              • So she gave us the singles of Vogue, Hanky Panky, Justify My Love, Rescue Me... will they go back and release more from the vault?
Blessed to say I've seen Mariah live 8x, Madonna live 8x, Céline Dion live 8x and many others once or a few times.

I’m guessing LAP in March, alongside a remastered video.

Madonna set to release Netflix documentary with footage from Madame X tour

MADONNA has been shocking the world for the best part of four decades, and this year she’s bringing her antics to Netflix.

I’m told that the Queen of Pop has signed a deal with the streaming giant to broadcast a documentary giving a glimpse into her superstar life.

The one-off special will feature extensive footage from her Madame X tour, which ended last March, as well as behind- the-scenes clips of the singer in action.

But it certainly won’t be all smiles, as it is also expected to feature scenes of the superstar struggling with hip and knee injuries which caused her to axe several shows from the tour.

It will come 30 years after her groundbreaking documentary Truth Or Dare chronicling her life during her Blond Ambition world tour, which at the time was the highest-grossing documentary ever made.

A source said: “Madonna quite literally put blood, sweat and tears into the Madame X tour and she wants this documentary to show it off for the spectacle that it was.

“She’s never been the type to fade into the background, so viewers will definitely get to witness her dry sense of humour.

“She has spent weeks watching previews and helping to edit the footage at home in the US and is very hands- on with it.”

The corresponding Madame X album went to No2 and became her 22nd Top Ten album when it was released in 2019.

Her 75-date tour included intimate venues in ten cities where fans were banned from using their phones.

That clever trick means the documentary will be the only way to see footage from her show.

Madonna has released DVDs of her last few tours but given it’s an outdated format now, this feels like a good move for her.

Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift have all done documentaries on Netflix in the past, with great results.

If anyone has proved they’ve still got the shock factor as an entertainer, it’s Madonna.

And I’m sure this special will be no exception.

All live shows are called documentaries now, probably because it’s a document of a show edited together from different ones.

Probably not, but DVDs sell do little nowadays she probably got paid more from Netflix and gets a larger viewership - people are going to more inclined to watch her on Netflix than spending money to buy the show.

                                • I just hate the use of the "shock factor" word by that article... Madonna is beyond that by now, whether she likes it or not...

Also, if that article is correct, it sounds like an "In Bed With Madonna"/"I'm Going To Tell You A Secret" type of movie... hopefully we will get plenty of songs if we don't get the full show...

                                  • Queen of pretentious documentaries. I just wanted the show by itself. Im a fan of documentaries for promo purposes since they usually help a lot, but I dont want performes sprinkled in. Like watching Shakiras El Dorodo show was annoying.

Depends on the artist. I love Madonna so much, I would love to see just the complete show. But with lots of other artists I only have little interest in or don't like every song, I would prefer a documentary.
