Or Madonna has also already agreed to release 3 albums of unreleased material and they’ll be considered studio albums?

Otherwise, I think it’s 3 new studio albums.
It says soundtrack recordings though, not albums. And it's been confirmed by Madonnatribe or some other Madonna website that the deal doesn't include new music or her future albums. Maybe she'll release 3 albums worth of B-sides and demos?

Not likely, since all those b-sides and demos would probably fill-up the deluxe versions of her albums. I also don't see Madonna commiting herself for 3 new albums at this point

Maybe they are including early material or unreleased albums or something

They just need to clarify the 17 albums comment.

I don’t see them releasing anything Evita related as that surely requires Andrew Lloyd Webber’s agreement - and there isn’t any leftover songs from Evita so I don’t know what an expanded version of the album would look like.

Why would they release an expanded version of Who’s That Girl? If there’s enough unreleased songs from Madonna for it they might be able to justify it but calling it a studio album with only four Madonna songs on it is a big push.

Something To Remember is a greatest hits album and You Can Dance is basically a greatest hits remix package too. Hardly qualify as studio albums.

So basically I’m trying to add it to 17 and I’m getting no where.
I have a bad feeling about this.

        • I highly doubt Madonna has another round of 3 studio albums left in her.

I think there’s value in Madonna releasing an ‘Before Fame’ album with unreleased demos and songs from before she signed with Warner - and as a stand-alone album rather than anything from her first album era (which will be its own release I guess).

The issue with all her pre-Warner work though is whether she holds the rights - just because she has a copy doesn’t meant she owns it.

I have a bad feeling about this.

Of course she does. Paul McCartney is onto 40+ including the Beatles at this point.

I personally would really like to have both Evita and Who's That Girl reissues with Madonna-only tracks on them (no other artists' songs), a la The Bodyguard reissue.
Okay she only has four songs on WTG, but maybe with some unreleased tracks, demo versions or remixes (also, we need the Miami Mix of Don't Cry for Mer Argentina included on an LP).

I’m not against any of that. I think Evita needs certain songs to make the story work though and I’m pretty sure we ended up with her best vocals so I don’t know what the demos would offer - but I’m open to having everything - I’d rather have something I can ignore than nothing at all.

                      • I love the non-Madonna songs on "Who's That Girl" as well, that soundtrack works really well as it is so a big no to a Madonna-only version.

If COADF and Celebration get re-certified, Madonna would break her tie with Barbra Streisand for the most multi-platinum albums by a woman (both have 12 now)
True Blue has a big chance to go diamond

The bad news is that we will never see Rebel Heart getting Gold certification. Warner will get the license, Interscope couldn't care less then. It happens to albums such Elvis Christmas Album. Different labels mean different certifications.

                            • I’m really looking forward to:

American Life Expanded - the album is far too short and considering it was the first album she spent so long working on, I’m pretty sure there’s plenty of unreleased songs.

Desperately Seeking Susan - it’s the demo I’ve always wanted to hear the most.

Rebel Heart - I suspect she finished more of the demos than she released.

                              • Happy birthday to the queen and thank you for all these years of incredible music!

Forbidden Love even though it was with baby face had the spectacular production of Nellee Hooper and was closer to Trip Hop than R&B, with a good video it would have been a success besides how beautiful Madonna's voice is heard

I suspect they’ll remaster them, so yes. We already know Hard Candy has a decent amount of leftovers and Bedtime Stories has no leaked songs from its sessions so probably has a decent amount in the vault - we had never even heard of ‘Your Honesty’ when it was released and the earlier sessions were with Shep and never used.

                                  • MADONNA’S NEW PUBLICIST

Following today’s announcement of a milestone, career-spanning global partnership with Warner Music Group, news is also in that Madonna has signed with Alexandra Baker of High Rise PR, who appears in the press release as the new media contact for the Queen of Pop.

Baker’s clients include Billie Eilish. Finneas, Duran Duran, Clairo and Noah Cyrus, among others.

Madonna had previously been represented by Kelly Bush Novak at ID PR, who signed on in 2018, and BB Gun Press, which was founded by veteran music publicist Brian Bumbery, Variety reports.

Prior to that, she had been represented for more than 20 years by the one and only Liz Rosenberg, who runs her own New York City-based shop with a roster that includes Cher and Michael Buble.

                                              • This was posted to CNN - Debra Winger dropping out of A League of Their Own because Madonna was hired. I can't say I disagree with all of this, but it is honestly so unnecessary - it's been 30 years since the movie - why bring it up now? And it's actually one of Madonna's better performances.

In an interview with The Telegraph, Winger says she left the Penny Marshall directed film about a pioneering group of women baseball players following the addition of Madonna to the cast/ And while Winger trained for three months with the Chicago Cubs to prepare for the role, she said the hiring of the singer turned it into "an Elvis film" and not the film she had agreed to do.

"The studio agreed with me because it was the only time I ever collected a pay-or-play on my contract," Winger told the publication. "In other words, I collected my pay even though I did not play, and that's very hard to get in a court." Winger also said that after meeting the real-life players on whom the film was based, she didn't think the movie honored them. "As entertaining as [the final film] was, you don't walk away going 'Wow, those women did that.' You kind of go 'Is that true?,'" she said.

In terms of Davis' performance in the film -- in the role Winger was set to play -- Winger said she believes Davis "did OK" and said of the cast "I certainly don't begrudge any of them." When it comes to Madonna, Winger said "I think [her] acting career has spoken for itself."

CNN has reached out to reps for Madonna for comment.
