I wasn't talking about charts. A song can be a hit and still be underrated, as far as I know everyone hates "American Pie" and "Don't Tell Me" in 2018.

I'll remember was quite big on American radio too, it even got plenty of recurrent airplay at the time ; I guess underrated in the sense that it's one of M's biggest hits in America yet it has been rather forgotten, right?

I never hated American Pie but it was not a big deal for me.
All of that has changed and I'm in such a love relationship with the song lol.
It's included on the "All out of 00s" Spotify playlist and I listen to that while working out. For some reason,lol, the song clicked with me in a way it hadn't before.

No, I wasn't talking about charts. Charts belong to the past, the legacy that we have today can speak better about a song being underrated or not.

As far as I know "American Pie" is forgotten, buried, insignificant, hated and despised by both audiences and Madonna herself these days . . . . so yep, Underrated for me because I think it's a nice track that doesn't deserve such underappreciation.
