this is indeed strange, recently all post and things she/they said are proven to be a clue.... like in the Q&A for FEL mentioning Sex so many times, i was sure it was a clue to something to do with Sex anniversary and boom, we had a limited edition Sex revival book.... the mention of a greatest hits Toru and boom, announced.... that promo was supposed to be for sale for cancelled last minute as deemed too expensive so maybe it is time....(but i want either ROL 25th too late now) or a new Album....

The anticipated biopic of music legend Madonna is taking an indefinite holiday. The project, which the icon was going to direct herself, is no longer in development at Universal Pictures, multiple sources told Variety.

Speculation over the fate of the movie began instantly after Madonna announced a career-spanning world tour last week — one that sold out shows in New York, London, Paris and other cities in minutes. Insiders familiar with Madonna said her sole focus Is the tour, but she remains committed to making a film about her life one day.

Representatives for Madonna, Garner and Universal Pictures declined to comment on the matter.

I think different factors have contributed to take such decision.

None of the reports say Universal has stepped away from the project, just that development has stopped. This makes sense considering Madonna will not be in a position to dedicate the next year or two towards it.

There’s also the fact biopics of musicians has taken a bit of a downturn lately, and that cinema hasn’t yet fully recovered from the pandemic (unless it’s a big property name). Both Elvis and Whitney have underperformed in the last twelve months.

The press will surely make this out to be a disaster, but the truth is Madonna is a busy woman. She gave it a good go but she’s returned to the studio and to touring in a timescale we’ve come to expect as fans - her schedule has been the same for years at this point.

Sometimes in a creative process, a pause is a good thing too. You can become too attached to a project and stepping away and coming back with fresh eyes is always good. I am confident this biopic will get made and I bet she keeps working on the script whilst on the road.

It will happen. Even if she has to self fund. I think I’d prefer that actually - financing, writing, directing and producing her own biopic would be one of the biggest career statements she’s ever made.

I'm glad that it's scrapped right now. Madonna should be very involved with the movie, it's her story to tell after all. But she should choose a great director who can tell the story the way M wants and be executive producer or something else.

I had said the biopic has stalled ages ago and was laughed at.

It is my understanding Universal want to sell off the rights to the movie as she’s too difficult to work with and won’t compromise. Some slight insider info. That’s all I know.
