          • The grannys are a flop already. Non major events anymore. They talk about the bey's failure on album category and madonnas face.
            I mean really??
no one is supposed and destined to win anything on any award show. It isnt a given thing. As if that award were her personal belonging. Anything could happen any day. Harry deserves his so bad too. I'm happy for him as well.

and in addition they have nothing to talk about other than madonnas face.
that shows how that award show became boring and stupid and such a flop. No issue whatsoever.
just a mean and cheap event and celeb gathering to talk about and humiliate someone's face.
just pathetic. They don't have a life?

Madonna is the queen of pop and the biggest selling female music artist of all time!

            • Yes, but she also did the same thing in 2008 during the financial crisis, and S&S ended up becoming her most successful tour.

              • So, I haven't seen the grammys, but it seems that it all comes down to Beyonce losing and madonna's face.
Haven't seen any other news about it. So I guess I haven't been missing much this last few years of not watching it.

                          • Sorry was released as a single 6th Feb 2006, which is probably why it has just gone HD.

Madonna’s 12th UK #1 single! The album had sold so well I don’t think anyone had any expectations of it hitting #1 prior to release - the last time a Madonna second single had gone to #1 was True Blue!
I have a bad feeling about this.

Sales were low and I think it remains her lowest selling no 1 in Uk compared to her many others !
Was only a week at number one and fell out of the charts quickly too, as I think people were still buying the album over the single

Pity she didn’t release the Pet Shop Boys remix as that is awesome version

Madonna went to the Brits a week after release and Neil did present her with her award. She was stunning that night.

Madonna’s face was trending at last night Grammy’s. Observers tweeted their astonishment at her apparent use of plastic surgery. “Fans ‘so confused’ by Madonna’s ‘new face’ at Grammys 2023,” went the headline in the New York Post’s Page Six.

“Whaaaaaat happened to Madonna’s face?! #GRAMMYs,” said one typical message.

It’s become a sport to ridicule female celebrities who rely on cosmetic surgery. It’s way easier to diminish Madonna as an individual than question why so many women feel the need to do this in the first place.

Ageism is real, and it cuts way deeper than the knives women or needles women allow on their faces. Last year, in a survey of 6000 women over 50, 2/3 said they experienced age discrimination regularly and that it took a toll on their mental health. Women of color reported the highest levels of discrimination. Even as the population skews older, 9/10 older workers see discrimination against them as common; 3/5 say they’ve seen it in their workplaces.

Every minute we spend making fun of Madonna is another minute the system that made her slinks away unscrutinized by us, free to continue shaming women for a natural process no one can control.

Every minute we deride her is another minute we blame women, not the system.

And every woman who sees these headlines knows deep down that we are no different from Madonna -- that as we watch this process unfold on our faces we are living in a culture that has slowly disinvested in our value.

Managers, please remember that ageism is one of the least discussed forms of discrimination. Take a minute to learn about how to mitigate it.

Parents, take note: when you see yourself, or your kids, harshing on an individual woman who uses plastic surgery to look younger, take a moment to ask how the culture, the system, the society (you pick your word) is shaping that woman’s choice. Teach your kids to be critical of the system, not the person.

I wish we could have seen a headline like this: “Fans ‘so confused’ by culture that pressures women into elective, painful surgeries just to make music.’”

                                              #grammys2023 #madonna

                                                • 1990 interview By Mike Bonifer:

Q: Tell us about the Stephen Sondheim songs you sang for the film. How were they presented to you?

M: Stephen Sondheim played the songs on the piano for me one day in Warren ’s living room. He sang them to me in his most-endearing fashion. I thought, “Omigod, I have to sing those songs?”

Q: Why did you react like that?

M: Because they’re very complex songs. They’re not like any songs I have ever sung, and they’re not even like obvious pop songs from that era. The chordal and rhythmic changes made them complicated. That’s the way Stephen writes, he never repeats himself, wordwise or notewise. And he just doesn’t give in, he doesn’t resolve things musically. You know when you hear a song and you know what’s coming next? He doesn’t do that. So they’re very difficult to learn. And when I heard them, I didn’t want to like them; I resisted them, except for “I’ll Always Get My Man,” which I liked.

Q: How did you go about learning them?

M: I decided that I was going to think of it as a challenge, it was going to be like learning how to tap dance, which was very complex, and which I had to do for Bloodhounds of Broadway. I got a voice coach, Seth Riggs, and he helped me find the notes, because going from one note to the next was so strange. Seth’s accompanist would make slowed-down versions of the songs and I would take them home and memorize them, just go over and over them. And then we started having rehearsals with (choreographer) Jeffrey Hornaday for the staging of them, and that’s what really brought them to life for me. Not to be standing in my kitchen singing them. They were just songs to me before I got into a performance situation and put on a long dress to rehearse in. When I present them, that’s when they come to life for me.

The only song that I had any input of bringing into the mix was a cover of Rose Royce’s ballad Love Don’t Live Here Anymore. That was a final last-minute decision.”
