No I don’t speak Portuguese but I don’t speak Spanish I love Medellín. Language is not the issue and it’s not like I don’t like it - I like all of Madame X and never skip a single song - I just find Faz Gostoso very unnecessary.

It’s basically a cover of a Portuguese hit song from like 2018, has a random feature on it and remains an album track. I could understand if the song was reworked more or if Madonna had done a video and released it as a single. But Madame X is such a personal, intricate album that to randomly include a cover song in the middle is off putting and frankly, makes little sense.
I have a bad feeling about this.

Yes - on Score, Back That Up (Do It), Take a Day and Take It Back I believe. I could be wrong about Score though (which is one of my favourite RH outtakes).

Don't know if I even heard of those. So much leaked from RH I gave up trying to follow it. At one point I had ten versions of some tracks well maybe ten is an exaggeration but there was a lot. I really preferred some of the demos than the final versions. I hated those marching drums they added to so many tracks.

            • Future grew on me big time, i hated it when i first heard it

As for Medellin, it is a nice song but it was the worst song to launch the era. A lot of my friends didn't even listen to the album cause they hated Medellin.

              • When it comes to "Madame X", the only song I never listen to from that album is "Medellin" - absolutely dreadful, embarrassing and useless. I always start listening to the record from "Dark Ballet". Among other songs "Future", "Come Alive" and "Crave" are the worst while the rest is very enjoyable with the fado inspired tracks being the best ("Killers Who Are Partying", "Extreme Occident") shortly followed by the amazingly catchy albeit unoriginal "Faz Gostoso".

                • wow Medellin is amazing. It has such a polarising affect though.

future took a while on me to grow. Still not a fav. Butch I’m Loca is a mess. Only song on the main album I skip. The rest is heaven.

                  an incredible body of work.

Not really sure Future would have made them either

Probably wouldn't. I really don't know which song would've made a great lead single, probably God Control?

I’m happy with Medellín but God Control is an obvious standout.

                          • Medellin and God Control are both great track but they are TOO long, especially the latter .

                              OMG exactly.

I guess it truly is different strokes for different folks. But some MX tracks felt like an eternity to get through. Their novelty wore off very very very fast.

                              • BTUTTB was amazing in its original form without the lyric rework. But still it would’ve been single worthy during the HC era.

                                • If I had to describe God Control in one word it would be ... MESSY

Her intentions may have been well placed but the concept seemed forced with afterthought after afterthought. Another song which seems like an eternity to get through....oh wait it’s 4 hours long.

                                    • GC is long but a radio edit would have been released. I love it but i cant help wonder how incredible it would have been if the chorus was the "its a weird kind of energy..." part at 3:12. That was what a commercial version of the song would have done

i love Medellin but Maluma didnt need those spanish verses. It just made the time until the chorus too long.

It’s funny how production can totally change and enhance a song....

                                        • Medellín is wonderful. God Control too. So what if they don’t follow the structure of the average pop-radio friendly song? That’s a positive in my book. Who better than Madonna to transgress that, and at this point of her career, to even be above such concerns? She has produced plenty of those songs so it’s perfectly alright to allow herself to experiment more. Particularly at a time where kids have no patience for songs lasting more than 2:30-3 mins. Honestly, if music is not TikTok worthy, people dismiss it altogether. Sad.

Both, Medellín and God Control, are journeys/experiences in their own right. They have so many layers, sounds, unexpected turns... they’re not for everyone, so what? I’m sure she knew that. Maluma knew that (hence why he gave her the “Mrs Crazy” nickname?) Plus, seriously, the videos are incredible. The one for Medellin is one of the most beautiful she’s ever done imo.
