Here's the short. She's absolutely right thought, the album WAS bad at the time and still is now. Get Sexy has aged horribly too. The only saving graces for me were About a Girl (still aged questionably) and Thank You For The Heartbreak (the only remotely Sugababes-sounding song on the album).

Not entirely sure why they're snubbing Catfights and Spotlights though. Probably my second favourite Sugababes album.

    • good for her, she's obviously feeling some type of way about it because of the history during the era and love her honesty.
agree with Jason2379 , it's not a good album and one i never replay
      what's going on?

It's available for me. But maybe they made it unavailable in certain countries (as they said they don't like this album)? Idk.

            • Can’t they just add like 500 copies of The Lost Tapes online again?
I’m sure the demand is still there.

They could add 5k copies and it would sell somehow.

              • I just watched a performance of Girls from late 2008, and Keisha, Heidi and Amelle looked like they enjoyed each other's company at that time. In general, they seemed to have a good connection to another during the Catfights era. I wonder how it could all escalate during the time between the end of the Catfights era and the start of the Sweet 7 era.
I can only assume that Heidi and Amelle saw the new sound as a chance to reach new horizons, while Keisha felt like it would lead too far away from what the band initially stood for. She probably still went with it, but never failed to let the others know her discomfort about it - until Amelle and Heidi were fed up with the constant complaints. Or what do you think?

I know they won’t but I’d drop dead if they performed something like Every Heart Broken out of the blue

                    • I loved the singles from Sweet 7 at the time, though they are very of their time and I think that was the problem, they went with a sound that fit in with the trends of the time
and that was never what they were about.

                                    • Soo here’s my fresh review from the concert in Brussels!

The energy from the crowd when the show started was INSANE! They were super loud it was just crazy! When Siobhan first started singing her verse in Push the button the crowd went NUTS! She even stopped singing because she was sooo overwhelmed and completely forgot the lyrics that was so cute

The show was really fun and I was just a little happy kid. They did a lot of awkward “choreographies” they could’ve just stood there and sing and walk around and twirl a bit and it would’ve been enough tbh. They didn’t need some of that “choreography” they did

Flatline was indeed soooo good live! Overall the songs were really good live. They played Today and that was amazing too! Unfortunately they ditched Shape.

Some of the negative things were that they didn’t introduce the new song. I think if they had said sth like “we released this brand new song last friday! Show it love” or something, the crowd would’ve been more engaged and interested. They just randomly started playing it like as if it was one of the known songs and that was a bit odd.

Also unfortunately the ending was a bit abrupt. They finished About you now and then just said “thank you, see you soon” and literally ran off the stage People were expecting an encore but it was the actual end. That was a bit sad. They didn’t even hug or bow and Siobhan literally just went as soon as the song finished

One last thing: Mutya and Keisha were suuuuper engaging, especially Mutya! She looked at the fans a lot and laughed and smiled with us. However, Siobhan, for whatever reason, looked soooo dead behind her eyes. It was so weird sometimes!! I don’t know if she’s super nervous still but sometimes it really came across as if she couldn’t care less to be on the stage. It felt weird sometimes. But that’s just my impression.

Overall, I am suuuuper happy to have seen them! A dream come true!! They could’ve added some more songs tho.

                                      • I just think Siobhan isn’t a natural performer, and let’s face it - she has the least experience out of them all.

I didn’t see the London show but I’ve watched the clips and I do wonder what she makes of all this - she’s basically forty playing the first arena gigs of her life, as part of a band she walked out of over twenty years ago, singing a lot of songs she’s never recorded.

The last ten years have been a rollercoaster as to whether it would even happen for them or not, and now it’s happening it has to be somewhat intimidating. I know they’ve been playing a lot of festivals, but these arena shows are something else - it’s the payoff for everything that they’ve been through.
I have a bad feeling about this.

                                        • I was wondering, how do the girls touch the money from all Sugababes related stuff?

Do the other girls (Heidi, Amelle, Jade) receive anything now that the original lineup is existing under Sugababes again? I mean like for example Push the button wasn’t written by Siobhan. So does Heidi touch her part there? Or does Siobhan receive it too because she is Sugababes now?

Same for any other song which wasn’t entirely written by the original three (2.0/3.0/4.0 songs)? Just wondering how it goes.

As a basic rule of thumb, whoever wrote a song earns royalties, whoever recorded a song earns royalties, and whoever owns the recording earns royalties. Song credits are to individual people, not ‘Sugababes’, so when ‘Push The Button’ is purchased, played on the radio, steamed, or performed live, as a co-writer Heidi will continue to make money. Siobhan won’t make royalties from the song because it isn’t her song - but her financial incentive to performing it is from the money she makes per ticket sold.

Another way to look at it is when Geri left the Spice Girls - she made money on the music from the first two albums, but nothing from the third album recorded after she left. Just because she’s now back in the band, doesn’t mean she starts to earn royalties from that album.

                                              • So I held off commenting after their show in London last week and I’ve just seen them again last night in Madrid.

                                                Wow.

20 something years later and these women are showing what a force they are. They’re solidifying themselves as pop princesses. Their show in London was incredible. Someone above said how they thought Siobhan was lifeless and that’s stuck with me as I thought the complete opposite. I felt it was Keisha who might have been holding back at that show.

But last night was different. Keisha absolutely KILLED it! I went with friends from South America who weren’t familiar with them at all but they all couldn’t get over how good they were and especially Keisha. She has it, I just wish she believed it herself sometimes.

I’m so excited for their future.

                                                  • The one thing I’ve never thought about Keisha is that she lacked confidence

She was always the star of the group and even in their prime it always felt everything was built around her. Even when they didn’t own the name, wasn’t she the driving force in getting it back? Perhaps this time around she’s making a choice to make it not ‘all about me’?

I’m interested in seeing where they go from here, because the one thing they still haven’t done is give fans an actual album era. Everything has been about nostalgia thus far (even The Lost Tapes was a decade old leaked album) so we still don’t know where any of this can take them. I guess the bar nowadays is going to be what Steps have achieved, isn’t it?
