Wasn’t everything except Poison on the platinum deluxe? All I know is I have 20 songs from that era in my playlist - ten ballads and ten uptempo

What an atrocious album. And yet some will call this art or groundbreaking. To each their own.

None of these songs are memorably nor are they breaking any new ground. They sound like dated songs which have production ripped off from other songs.

I'm hearing at least two songs with Sour Candy (which i'm sure is borrowed elsewhere) style beats and chord progessions. On recent albums she's been relying alot on beats and production, though this one is probably the first one she really tripped in. It's basically drowning her vocals or her vocals are meh to be distinctive amongst all this production.

This is probably the first album where I get the feeling like she's trying to be trendy but instead of setting the trend, she is falling behind it. And what's more offputting is that it gives the sheen of someone trying to claim a return to this sound when we know it's clearly not.

I would say it's amongst her worst album next to B'Day.

Top Beyonce Albums
1) I Am Sacha Fierce - 9/10 - the right mix of pop and Beyonce's ferocity, a tad long and could use with a few song deletions but some standouts
2) Dangerously In Love - 9/10 - classic early 2000 rnb, some of these songs are starting to sound dated but as its her debut it still has some weight
3) Lemonade - 8.5/10 - Still sitting right on trend. Has some great songs like Love Drought, Sandcastles, Pray You Catch Me.
4) Beyonce - 8/10 - shift in direction done right and fresh. the sound was not just on trend but she was slightly ahead of it for the pop world at least
4) 4 - 7/10 - one of her most forgettable albums. Thank god for the singles and who would've thought Love On Top would be the truly memorable song of this album.
5) B'Day - 6.5 - dropped the ball from the debut with this one. Some songs are too shouty like Ring the Alarm, Deja Vu and Get Me Bodied. Noisy songs which clearly for most listeners are huge turnoffs. Thankfully, Irreplaceable was there to save this era or else it would go down as one of the biggest drop-offs from the debut. Even then, Irreplaceable was clearly a copy of the mid-tempo beat driven ballad set by Mariah's We Belong Together. She rehashed it on BestThing I Never Had and failed.
6) Renaissance Act 1 - 6/10 - if this is what a renaissance is then she is delusional. One of the worst albums by a mega artist in recent years. It's almost like she's too over her head in this once and caught up in her own supremacy. No thanks. onto Act 2.

The Gift - 4/10 - perhaps I shouldn't count this but simply forgettable album. Can't even recall anything standout here.

It is above average if you compare an album like this which at least has some effort and thought in it vs. the mindless albums we get from every other pop star these days.

Thanks for sharing! I don't blame you, this one is not very easy to digest. But that's exactly the reason why I choose to stan this woman, she just doesn't care and continue to evolve. One thing you can be sure if you stan her is that you can never be prepared. NEVER. And that's why I love her.

As for music, as you said, it's a matter of taste, but I hope you won't be trying to prove that this album is not an event. The production, music, twists, the lyrics, it's all really good and that is an objective opinion. And that's why she receives good reviews, not because people are scared of her. That statement I can't agree with, and honestly, it's not fair (not to say it comes across as trolling.).

You have terrible taste. B'Day and Renaissance are perfect. The first one is the reason I went from casual fan to stan and Renaissance is her best to date imo.
