I literally feel the same. It's like a new album every six months and look at her chart numbers. I know it's not all a out the numbers but come on, it's Japan. They milk a cow 24/7 but the music has incredibly declined in quality. A couple tracks here and there per year but in the past the entire album she had out was amazing. I wonder how her digital sales are doing but she's still damaging this spiraling down career. I always love her though, no matter what. She's clicked with me more than any other Asian artist has done (pardon me Utada) but she was always putting me in such a good mood while listening to her, looking for translations and checking out each new MV (she still slays in that department no matter theow budget) but overall the music just got more and more monotone, like a rehashed version of the past 5 records she's put out, better said the past 5 years to her career.
It's time to STOP. REALLY.
Even Namie has reinvented her career - ie that Jolin Tsai track she's featured in and the new album slays too. But Ayumi is still stuck in this rock pop, cheesy still that doesn't suit her anymore. I'm not saying she should strip it and pull a Hyuna but I don't know. Get people excited again.

It's over for her. She should have reinvented herself years ago, now its too late. But she can still go on tours every year so she'll be fine. Her legacy is clearly there. She has broken so many records and will definitely be remembered.

I've only listened 3 songs from ''Made in japan'' (Flower, Mad World, Winter Diary). They are not bad!!!
I will buy it sooner or later! I like collecting Ayu's albums.

I would not go that far I think in 2010 she dropped in popularity for sure. and it's only getting worse but I think it's because she's released A LOT OF records. anyways. I'll give it a try and listen to the latest album today

This it not true...
In 2007, she released 2 best albums. Both of them were among the top 10 best-selling albums in Japan that year ranked 5th and 7th on the year-end chart respectively.
In 2008, another best album of her ranked 8th among the best-selling albums of the year.

From 2009 till 2011 she was still a big seller though her sales were dropped, but she was producing platinum albums and #1 singles.

For me her big drop started in 2012 with Party Queen, but still even this album sold like 150,000 copies and went gold.
Her last gold album was Love Again in 2013.

FATED and Hanabi EPISODE II ~ WOW these songs are definitely Ayumi's best recordings apart from the ones mentioned above

Lol her personal life is a joke in Japan she's been divorced twice and her last one lasted a second. But she's a nice person in interviews and is very sweet as well.

They were never rivals. That was all just made up by their record labels to sell more albums.

Exactly. I think one of the two even recorded a track by the other and have it put on on a "tribute album". I think it was Ayumi who recorded an Utada track.
The media always tried to put Utada Vs Ayumi Vs Kumi Koda Vs Namie Amuro. I don't think it works that way in Japan anymore as only Utada and Namie have stayed "Relevant" in terms of sales and chart placing.

Her discography is really great. I've only listened to Duty, Rainbow and (miss)understood so far and I love all of them! Heaven is still one of my favorites, such a beautiful ballad

I think you must listen to MEMORIAL ADDRESS - it's a mini album.
I love and adore Guilty as well. I think it's her darkest album and FATED is also a very emotional moment in the album

GUILTY is one of my top 3 Ayu albums. Gosh, I used to rinse that album on repeat.

I think it's incredible how she can create a pure rock album like GUILTY yet still have a song like "glitter" on the album and make it sound cohesive as a whole record
