MUSE, one of my favourite bands
"King isn't overrated, your fave is just undertalented."

    Re: Muse

Muse bassist Chris Wolstenholme has confirmed to NME the band are set to start work on a new album in 2011.

The star said the trio plan to head into the studio for the follow up to 2009's 'The Resistance' after they take some time off from touring. Watch him talking about Muse's plans in a video to your right.

"We'll definitely start working on a new album next year," he revealed before adding: "I think we'll definitely take some time off after this touring period because it's something we've never done. I think the most time we've had off is about six weeks in the last 12 years, so we're due a break."

They need a break. The Last album was their worst effort I feel. Best Effort was Black Holes & Revelations. They managed to put some static and electronic sounds into their alternative music. It was amazing. Starlight and Well the whole album.

My favourite Muse songs of all time are

      Bliss
      New Born
      Stockholm Syndrome
      Butterflies & Hurricanes
      Time Is Running Out
      Super Massive Black Hole
      Undisclosed Desires

There are soo many more but these are just from the top of my head

Mine too. I think it's their best. Seeing them live is an amazing experience.

I do agree that they need a bit of a break.

Am dying to see them live, but due to no funds (and prolly cos the gigs have now sold out), I won't see them when they come out here in December. Also need to get all their albums and discover a bit more of their music properly, even though I know more of their songs now through the Muse Survivors we've had on here.

            Fave songs of theirs:

            Unintended
New Born (the first song of their's I discovered, fell in love with the piano & bass intro)
            Hysteria
            Time Is Running Out
            Supermassive Black Hole
            Knights of Cydonia

I haven't been fussed on the singles from The Resistance - they're ok, but nothing to shout about.
Let's embrace the point of no return.

Black Holes & Revelations is their best album IMO. The last one is not really good but it's not bad either. IMO the 'Eclipse' song is their worst song.
                Haven't been early since '88

Black Holes & Revelations is definitely not their best but it is their most commercial.
The Resistance is good because of Exogenesis.

Bumping this because I finally (FINALLY) got to see them live last night & yep, I'd go and see them live again, even though I was a tad disappointed that they didn't play Stockholm Syndrome (which, after buying Absolution, I freaking ? that song...actually, that album is definitely my fave out of the 3 I have from them) or New Born (the song that made me discover them in the first place), but they did play 3 of my other faves, so I'll forgive them.

No joke, I was this close to touching Matt Bellamy...I ran into a family friend at the gig, who was there with her boyfriend & all 3 of us managed to find a spot on the side right at the front behind the barrier...Matt came down off the stage into the crowd briefly during Undisclosed Desires (I think) & came along the front row touching people's hands (all the while wearing a Christmas tree hat made out of tinsel...it looked great, but ridiculous all at once), but he stopped doing that about 2 people along from my family friend (I stood a bit behind them, but I could've easily extended my hand out, my arms are long enough). Literally 1-2 metres away from him & still didn't get anywhere. Drats. :(

Anyway, the setlist was largely made up of stuff from The 2nd Law, which I haven't got (yet), but here's what I remember from said setlist:

                    Supermassive Black Hole
                    Follow Me
                    Madness
                    Panic Station
                    Knights of Cydonia
                    Plug In Baby
                    Time Is Running Out
                    Hysteria
                    Butterflies & Hurricanes
                    Uprising
                    Undisclosed Desires
                    The 2nd Law: Unsustainable
                    Starlight
+ a bunch of other songs I didn't know (one of which had Chris on lead vocal)

Proud to say I have another gig T-shirt to add to the collection...I tend to wear them to bed though.
Let's embrace the point of no return.

Muse Mark 20th Anniversary of ‘Showbiz’ With ‘Origin of Muse’ Box Set

Muse will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut LP Showbiz with a mammoth box set that collects the band’s first two albums along with their early EPs, demos, live recordings and B-sides from the era.

The 9CD/4LP Origin of Muse, due out December 6th and available to preorder now, features remastered editions of 1999’s Showbiz and 2001’s Origin of Symmetry, their Muse and Muscle Museum EPs, plus discs full of demos (Newton Abbot Demos, instrumental demos of Origin of Symmetry), many of which are unreleased.

The box set also compiles all of the B-sides from the era as well as two discs showcasing the two albums’ live sound, including Muse’s 10th anniversary full-album performance of Origin of Symmetry at the 2011 Reading Festival. The 4LPs are dedicated to Showbiz and Origin of Symmetry pressed onto 180-gram colored vinyl.

Origin of Muse is housed in a 48-page casebound book which contains an interview with Muse’s Matt Bellamy, Dominic Howard and Chris Wolstenholme discussing the early years of the band. The book also boasts original posters, setlists, photographs and contact sheets from the era, while the reissued albums themselves faithfully reproduce the original release’s artwork.
