I just discovered some of her lesser knows songs today while on the elliptical. Im really liking "loves unkind", Love is in control, and her version of There Goes My Baby. Her dance track from the 90s I will go with you is great also. She sort of led the way with that one for Cher's Believe! RIP!

The voice of a generation, the leader of a movement, the queen of the dance floor. Such a sad loss at such a young age nowadays. Yet another legend gone - they say all of the Hollywood legends are gone, but now it seems like music is going the same way. At this rate all we'll be left with are a generation of talent show contestants and Cher.

Easily the most iconic moment in Donna's career... who even remembers anything about this movie except this scene and song? Donna was already a rising star but this is what cemented her as an icon IMO

This is how I want to remember Donna - a lady who's voice could shake an arena to move, even at an event as important as the Nobel awards with a room full of a bunch of dignitaries. Full of life and happiness, with an amazing voice.

Oh I can't believe we'll never get any new music. *sigh*.

We did get one final track just a few weeks ago, which was also what made it so shocking when I heard the news. Even though I'm not a fan of hip hop (the rapper is her nephew), her vocals were so amazing on it, and in a sense when you listen to the lyrics and how the song is about angels and life after death, I wonder if Donna really was intending this to be her farewell to her fans.

Showstopping. It absolutely p!sses me off that Simon Cowell didn't give her a standing ovation though, yet he routinely gives much, much lesser star performers a standing ovation.

A shame this letter was sent in 1989 but not revealed to the public until after her death. I always found it disgusting the way the gay community turned against Donna in the 1980s because of an unsubstantiated rumor that she made homophobic comments on television and in a concert.

Her voice was still absolutely astonishing, right up until the end of her career.

I hope that we get to hear some of that unreleased music that she apparently recorded before she died.

She wrote about her cocaine addiction in her autobiography and also on her VH1 Behind The Music during the height of her fame. That was a big part of her turned to religion because it helped her quit. That was also a main reason why she left Casablanca Records because it had way too many bad memories when she was starting over again. Remember that coke was pretty much all over the disco era.
